The NHL’s Stanley Cup Playoffs got underway on Wednesday night just as the NBA’s regular season came to a close. This sets the stage for a big weekend of betting on both sports’ postseason action this.

The final pairings in both the Eastern and Western Conference for the upcoming NBA playoffs were finally set after Wednesday night’s results. The Toronto Raptors are the top seed in the East and they will square off against the Washington Wizards in the opening round with Game 1 of this best-of-seven series set for Saturday at 5:30 p.m. on ESPN.

The Houston Rockets posted the best straight-up record in the NBA this season at 65-17 to earn the No. 1 seed in the West. They will face Minnesota in the first round with Game 1 slated for 9 p.m. this Sunday night on TNT.

The defending NBA Champion Golden State Warriors limp into the playoffs as the No. 2 seed in the West with a SU 4-6 record in their last 10 games while going 3-7 against the spread on the closing line. They will begin the defense of that title against San Antonio on Saturday in a 3 p.m. tip on ABC.

The Cleveland Cavaliers won the Eastern Conference title last season for the third-straight year. Defending that title this time around could be a bit more difficult as the No. 4 seed in the conference. They will open the playoffs at home against Indiana with Game 1 set for Sunday at 3:30 p.m. on ABC.

The biggest story coming into this year’s NBA playoffs is the Philadelphia 76ers riding a SU 16-game winning streak into their first appearance in the postseason since 2012. They locked up the No. 3 seed in the East to draw Miami in the opening round. Game 1 of that series is set for Saturday night in an 8 pm. Tip on ESPN.
Over in the NHL, the Pittsburgh Penguins began their quest for a third-straight Stanley Cup title on a strong note with a 7-0 victory against the Philadelphia Flyers as -180 home favorites with BetaGame. Game 2 in Pittsburgh is slated for Friday night at 7 p.m. on NBC Sports Network.
