Philly Sat

Just too hard to pass up some of the bait they put out for us today. Here's what I gots...

2nd: Maybe I'm just looking for another miracle, but this is a short field of dirt bombs and this is Philadelphia Park. For whatever reason other than a hunch, I guess - I may make a few very small bets using the no. 6 hoss (no, I didn't lose a few screws since Tuesday). Won't even write them down; but I will put the saner plays here...

2-4-7 tri box...... or ... 1,2 top/bot with 4,7. Bottom line is that I will be doing something with the no. 2 hoss in this race fosho. .

5th: Fairly decent wace, betting wise that is. 2,5 top/bot with the 3,8. Also no. 2 and 5 to WIN. I always get told that this kinda bet is "betting against myself". I'll "bet against myself" every race that I come up with two strong contenders (well, according to my figures) that are 12 to 1 and 6 to 1. Don't like them enough in this race to do the "wheel one top/bot and play the other straight" though and besides - today ain't Tuesday. IF either the no. 2 or no. 5 wins and the exacta hits.. this type of bet will do just fine.

7th: The kind of race that just suck(ers) you(?)/ME into playing. MANY of these are Philly regulars that are VERY familiar and some of them are sooo enticing at the M.L. odds. Are they ever. Probably should just take a shot, to win only on one or two of them but I did work the figures, angles, coin flips, ... the works and came up with these plays...

4,6 top/bot with 9,10 and..... no. 6, Love To Be Wicked, Win/Place/Show@2x.. Not "talking" 2 stinkin dollar bets on that no. 6 either even with the 12-1 M.L. odds.

Just as a sidenote - I wrote that one of the horses listed on my "Hosses to WATCH" list would be popping at a price. So far, every one that ran popped out of the moola and quite a few of them had their turn too.
Just maybe today one that's entered in this race will come through. He came up 4th in my figures. We'll see. Made sure I got him in the exactas with the nice morning line odds he's got today. Just in case I come back here and brag about all the moola I won with that hoss... I'll write here that I'll be checking him out in the prerace and prob. will bet him some kind of straight way if he looks good.

8th : Another race that's LOOKS quite inviting. But the favorite sticks out a little too much for my taste. I got if figured as the no. 6, then a gap to the 1,5,8, then the rest. A 1-5-6 tri box might be the ticket for this one? The other thought is just the no. 1, Rapala, straight or across as a VALUE play.

10th: Made sure I got this one done to post this time. Not worth the effort though cause it looks like a race between two favorites. Only possibility seems to be either the no. 11 or 12 sticking their nose in there. Maybe a LOOKER will show up for this one?

Just 4 the record
There's a couple of no. 2 hosses that look like the value plays for today... in the 2nd race and in the 5th.

Well, that's exactly how i gotem morked based on handicapping. The only way I'll make a change is if one of them looks really bad on the track or I see a LOOKER elsewhere in the race. I'l do my best to post the looker on time but that is really tough cause this track is in a rush to git the sheep into the barn ... er, casino. Time between post parade and post is awfully short and I gotta get the bets in before I post something.

Hammy, if there's a scratch then just leave that one out and play whatever is left.

G.L.

Thank you for stopping in HM and DM. and letting me know you were interested in what I wrote.

That Sinatra horse was my bestest bet of the day. That's why I added the "4 the record" line to my post. Didn't go with the trifectas, DID go with the exactas though ($3 tickets LOL but really. . Unfortunately, didn't care for the no. 5 at all. That Sinatra horse has been racing at Philly for quite some time and NEVER won at this track; he was long overdue and his past perf. lines and other stuff were set up really good for today's race.

I know EXACTLY what you mean, deliman..... seeing your nos. up there and you/ME didn't get any of it. Been there plenty of times.

It IS a good start to the weekend and thanks to the straight bets on "Sinatra" (5,5,10), I'm assured of a profitable Sat. no matter what happens the rest of the way.

5th wace wasn't any fun and now I see that they put Kyle on the no. 8 hoss in this upcoming 7th event. SHEET... now we gots ANOTHER contender (at 14-1 current odds in this dang wace).

Enjoy the waces or whatever you do this weekend.

I see that Hammy is on the case now.

Well, LOOKS like that no. 5 will be smokin early on. It also LOOKS like our no. 10, hoss to watch, may make some noise in this wace.

GL.

BTW, that DOESN'T mean I like the 5 hoss. Insurance plays are on the 10 and also the 8.

Hmmm... EXCEPT for that no. 3, who won the dang race, I couldn't have been righter (oops) about this race. I was gonna write that "I woulda LUVED that no. 10 hoss IF he drew the inside pp in this race". I believe that he woulda won this race if he wasn't so wide all the way. Did a good job with the insurance, playing the no. 8 to WIN, only and playing the 10 Win AND Place.

The Philly "bonus" payoff to place ($8.40) on the no. 10 helped, but that race wasn't profitable. Dead wrong about that no. 6 who raced extremely wide, but didn't have anything anyways.

well, I see that the no. 1 hoss is now at 13-1 and that's way too high (like in "UNDERbet"). No matter what the odds are on him ... he STILL needs to win and beat the fav. for anybody to collect a cent on him.

10th race

Last race is strictly a search for a LOOKER. No matter how good it L@@Ks.. TWO stinkin dollar bets cause there's a C note along with a few smaller bills GLUED to my Pocket. P is for Profits.

And, if one doesn't come along, .. I'l be leaving here on a high note.

Hammy, you practicing "lookin for LOOKERS"?

If so, I got the nos. 5 and 8 in this last race as pretty good Lookers.

SOMB.. it WAS a race between two favorites.

Seeyas.

Not sure, but if ya have a "Watch List", might not be a bad idea to put that there no. 5 hoss, Wise Jane, on that list. I gotta see the replay before I do that.

You shoot pool too? I put in plenty of hours in pool halls; really liked that game. Never got good enough to enter a tournament, but wasn't bad. Hung out with some excellent players and learned a lot from watching them and coughing up some coins to them in the process. Funny thing is that the condo I bought down here had a pool table in the clubhouse. Put in plenty of hours practicing on it while I lived there.

Funny story - when i first came down here I met some fishing buddies. One was a bit of a wiseass and one day he saw me get home from work early and asked me if I wanted to hit the bar with the pool tables. He thought I was a "turkey" and was gonna sucker me in.

We played for beers and I beat him 6 straight games. AFTER EACH GAME HE ACTED MORE AND MORE DRUNK. i couldn't help from laughing at him and said, "what's goin one.. I'm winning all the game and YOU'RE the one getting drunk.". Best of all, I think he was a better player than me, but I was hot as a pistol that day on the tables.

Good luck in the tourney, Hammy.
