Vicious is infamous around these parts
White Sox Under 76

They are bad. And they'll sell off anything they can come mid-season.

thx for the responses so far, appreciate the feedback

any reasoning that you all care to throw in regarding the plays you like?

looks like a pretty high number for d-backs and they seem to be getting a lot of love from the media

reds also getting a lot of love from a lot of places which scares me a bit on their over

nationals seem to continue to improve their roster and their chances, 83 seems high for them so their over does intrigue me a bit

vicious, who is the new skipper? and i think the pale hose lost Beurhle (sp?) correct? he was a solid inning eater and would seemingly be sorely missed if he is indeed gone

i've tried to quit betting bases on a daily basis - for me it's just too much action, morning noon and night for half the year is not good for a guy who is trying to be more disciplined all the time but really an action junkie at heart - so i would love to throw a couple of dimes on something that will allow me to follow for the whole year without betting daily

again thanks for the responses so far and looking forward to more input if anyone cares to provide it

until later, good luck

decided to take a quick peek at the CWS and answer some of my own questions

new manager is Robin Ventura - has he ever managed before? my guess is no

also does look like Beurhle is gone, thought that i had heard that

looks like a no-name bullpen for the most part, including new closer i have never heard of:

Projected Bullpen:

RHP Addison Reed (closer)

RHP Jesse Crain

RHP Zach Stewart

LHP Will Ohman

LHP Matt Thornton

RHP Gregory Infante

RHP Brian Bruney

lineup also full of names that i have never heard:

Projected Lineup:

1. CF Alejando De Aza

2. 2B Gordon Beckham

3. 1B Paul Konerko

4. DH Adam Dunn

5. LF Alex Rios

6. C A.J. Pierzynski

7. SS Alexei Ramirez

8. RF Dayan Viciedo

9. 3B Brent Morel

rotation does not seem so bad:

Projected Rotation:

1. LHP John Danks

2. RHP Jake Peavy

3. RHP Gavin Floyd

4. LHP Chris Sale

5. RHP Phil Humber

LA, don't forget the other factor... getting rid of ozzie guillen has gotta be worth at least +5 or 10 wins.

White Sox unveil Opening Day roster

The White Sox optioned Dylan Axelrod to Triple-A Charlotte and reassigned Brian Bruney, Hector Gimenez, Rey Olmedo, Leyson Septimo and Eric Stults to minor league camp on Saturday, leaving the team with 25 players remaining in camp -- in other words, the Opening Day roster.

Eduardo Escobar officially won the final spot on the major-league bench, which was expected after Dan Johnson and Dallas McPherson were cut earlier in the week. Nate Jones beat out Bruney and Stults for a spot in the bullpen, and Zach Stewart topped Axelrod for the long relief role.

The Bruney-Jones battle was probably the tightest of the spring, as both pitchers were successful in their combined 19 outings. Jones struck out 17 but walked eight while allowing three runs in 10 2/3 innings. Bruney had a 14/6 strikeout-to-walk ratio with five runs allowed in 15 1/3 innings.

But Bruney doesn't have the upside of the 26-year-old Jones, who hasn't pitched above Double-A in his career. That jump past Triple-A may come back to bite Jones in the regular season, although he probably won't see any high-leverage situations early into his tenure. Jones will probably be used as a mop-up man to get his feet wet, and if he succeeds in those spots he could be given a larger role.

Axelrod allowed the most hits of any White Sox pitcher this spring (29), and only Jones and John Danks walked more batters. While Zach Stewart's 9/4 strikeout-to-walk ratio wasn't eye-popping, he was more successful in his spring outings and does have a better pedigree than Axelrod. The good news is that Axelrod can be stretched out as a starter in Triple-A and would likely be first in line for a call-up if someone in the major-league rotation gets hurt.

Here's how the roster will shake out on Friday in Texas:

Catchers: A.J. Pierzynski, Tyler Flowers
Infielders: Paul Konerko, Gordon Beckham, Alexei Ramirez, Brent Morel, Eduardo Escobar, Brent Lillibridge
Outfielders: Alex Rios, Alejandro De Aza, Dayan Viciedo, Kosuke Fukudome
Starters: John Danks, Jake Peavy, Gavin Floyd, Chris Sale, Philip Humber
Relievers: Matt Thornton (closer), Jesse Crain, Will Ohman, Addison Reed, Hector Santiago, Nate Jones, Zach Stewart
DH: Adam Dunn

Agree about the White Sox. Good thing they have two decent starters or it would be really ugly. Paul Kornerko has to hit the wall fairly soon. Probably most likely to be traded if playing well.
Like Reds over. Washington not so sure. If Strasburg's arm holds up then possible. Offense limited beyond Zimmerman unless Werth refinds his stroke and Bryce Harper makes the team and becomes rookie of the year already.
