What I learned in Vegas..

Man Vegas has changed quite a bit since the last time I was there 2008. I stayed at Ballys and played Darts there. Really never left that area (Flamingo and forget the name of other casino next to it) except to go to Hooters for $.25 cent wings after midnight and Ellis Island.. (Need to get a Hooters reward card), Not as many people there as I remember, seems to be about half with many many empty blackjack and three card poker tables.

Bally's sports book, real nice viewing area for Horses and for the mainstream games. The people taking the bets are great, and are liberal in giving away free drinks for bets. (You do have to ask for them)

DRINKING and EATING

If you like Bud Light, going to Hooters is a must. $1.50 beers all the time and that is great if you go with people who do not gamble. Like I said the wings are quarter after midnight with players card, or .50 without.

Bally's has a tequila bar with Jose Cuervo being $2 per shot with Budlight and Medello drafts for $2 as well. They have a Tequila fermenting in melon, it's $7 a shot but very good on the rocks,, The bartender gave me liberal pours.

Ellis Island... If you want the BBQ it is served on special days and it starts at 4 PM and end at about 10 PM. Never tried it but that is what I was told by the hostess.

Flamingos.... Lunch buffet was nothing to get excited about..

Does anyone know where there is a 24 hour buffet in Vegas?

POKER ROOMS

The rooms were dead and seldom had any games going. Disappointing.

I am sure there is more that will pop up.

Welcome to the new reality known as

post 2008 Vegas...

Big Box Cavernous empty crypts...

Poker galore at Orleans. nightly 7pm tourneys with 7-10 tables, very soft live poker. (probably a $15 cab ride from your area.)

Hotel room poker rate was $35. last time I checked.

24 hour buffet?

Don't think Vegas ever had that.

Try Gold Coast noon Dim Sum lunch at "Ping Pang Pong" .... the shrimp balls are to die for.

The Frontier.. I could always rely on "pigging out" any time there.

Frontier...

remember very cheap Prime Rib,
continuous labor strikes, and a really hot blackjack table one night about 20 years ago...

Could not imagine any breakfast buffet with moldy eggs and limp pancakes at 4am..thats for 24 hour Diners...

Take the shuttle from Wild Bills (used to be Barbary Coast) to either Gold Coast or Orleans for free.

They had a deal in place a couple of years ago,........an outfit outta Cali signed a contract to buy Hooters, and turn it into a 'boutique' hotel,................but walked away from the 1/2 million deposit they put down, when the market went belly-up.
