Churchill - R11 - Sun 11/27
#1 AP AZERIN 9/2 ML
I have bet her a couple of times and will try again today to see if she can break her maiden. I think she is in a good spot, sports a couple nice works since her last Keeneland race, and with her connections, shouldn't get a whole lot of attention at the windows.

Finished 4th at 13 or 14 - 1. I will continue to watch her, but she may need to drop from the MSW ranks. No excuses this time, although the track was sloppy.
Not familiar with the connections, so not sure if this horse will turn up at Gulfstream, Fair Grounds, Oaklawn or even Hawthorne or Turfway this winter.

Stick with this horse Sharky. Connections have only had him for the last 2 races as it looks like it was a private purchase after that Arlington MSW on the turf which was a pretty good MSW with the winner taking down the BC Juvenile fillies turf and others coming back to break their maiden since then. IMO the horse is best on the turf going 2 turns from what I have seen from him so I would expect to see the horse at Turfway on the poly and I know Gorder runs most of his stock in Kentucky and the Midwest besides some occasional ones at Mountaineer. It will be interesting to see if they try him 2 turns on dirt somewhere because that Churchill race was a learning experience with the sloppy track, 1 turn mile, and the horse was pulling a little with nowhere to go on the backstretch behind the lead pack, and the horse was not going to go anywhere when clear on the rail during the stretch at Churchill with that amount of rain.

Thanks for the info Striker. I still think she wants to be a racehorse.

The longer distance the better for her based on pedigree, It will be interesting to see if she goes on turf or dirt.

She worked again yesterday (12/22) at Fair Grounds:
5 Furlongs Breezing
1:00.60 (4/36)
I will continue to update her progress here. I am sure this filly doesn't realize she has a fan club of one on the internet.

Thanks Striker.
She's the 3rd AE, so unlikely she will draw in.
However, as you suspected it looks like their first choice is 2 turns on the grass......also encouraging to see Napravnik assigned to ride.

Found some positive info for you Sharky. The last breeze at 4f AP Azerin outworked Garnet Crystals by a length as she went 49 and 2 while Garnet C went 49 and 3. Garnet C has already cleared the Aoc nw1x condition and placed 3rd in a 3yo filly restricted stake at Churchill in November. I'm also high on a few other AE's in that Fairgrounds MSW race in Cherished Obsession and Queen of the Waves, whenever they get to race again.

Either something is wrong with her or they are waiting for turf as there is a race Sunday(1/22 Race 8) for 3 year old fillies at 1 mile and 70 yards at Fairgrounds that if they thought she could win a race on dirt or wanted to get a race into her they would want to run here IMO. I like the ML fav in cherished Obsession here.

Yeah, I'm not sure what is up. Her last work was the 14th, so even if there is a grass race she fits coming up, it's a little odd she didn't work again this weekend.

I'm getting the feeling maybe this filly has a bit of hard luck.....
She is in Sunday - Race 7 at FG in a Maiden Special Weight going 1-1/16 miles on the turf, but she has drawn Post 12. She gets a morning line of 10-1.
Looking at the Form, there is no doubt she belongs with this bunch, but the post sucks....
(Horses are 0-10 this meet from the 11/12 post on the turf going greater than 7.5 F). The start line is far enough enough away for this distance that she may be able to get settled somewhere before they hit the first turn however.
Also note that Napravik was named to ride in the race earlier this month when AP Azerin was on the AE List, but she has gone to the 9-2 HERE MUSIC for Pessin in this spot.
Apprentice C.J. McMahon is named to ride this time, but he has found the Winner's Circle 40 times (13%) this meet.
We should get a price if we can get past the post.

This is your chance to get a great price on her here with the post and off the layoff. If this was at 1 mile that would make it way tougher on her. The apprentice can ride and I think that it could be a great move to put him on her. FG turf is choppy and she has never raced on a firm surface so she might love it but then again might finish up the track. Nevertheless I will be using her in multi race wagers. GL sharky and that sucks about your GP pick 4 or 5 that you were alive in the cash leg, been there done that.

She was 4-5wide into the first turn and had a 3 wide trip the entire backstretch and then ranged up EASILY on the 2nd turn and 3-4 wide into the stretch but then was just flat in the stretch. The green light has to be on the next race on the lawn and the price should be ok as she faded to 4th or 5th today.
