SPORTS HANDICAPPING REPORT
June 15, 2004
A PERSONAL NOTE TO EVERYONE AT MADJACKSPORTS:
We are now in the midst of the slowest time of year for
sports betters. Basketball and Hockey seasons have finished. Football is
still two full months away. That leaves only Major League Baseball (and
international sports, for those of you who bet on non-US sporting events).
I expected to come back to handicapping – and writing at
MadJackSports -- after my work was finished at the 2004 World Series of
Poker. However, having just spent the last two weeks hiking around the
Grand Canyon (South Rim), I must say that the idea of going back "to work"
is not appealing to me at the moment. Being without a cell phone or a
laptop for a few weeks, away from crowds and the pressures of city living,
was a wonderful reprieve.
Furthermore -- with the assistance of a colleague here in
Las Vegas, I’ve been very lucky to have worked out a baseball betting
system that produces small but steady profits. At some point, I might
write about it and share it with readers. But before I do so, I want to
see if it consistently beats the line (long term) and this will take more
time and experimentation.
I anticipate coming back to MadJackSports with regular
reports when the NFL football season begins – in early September. At that
time, I will return to the techniques that worked so well during the 2000
NFL season. When I first joined MadJackSports back in September of 2000, I
posted a WEEKLY analysis of all the games – and nothing more. I believe
that by returning to this "simplified" system, I might make a valid
contribution to MadJackSports and also be able to balance my personal time
commitments.
As much as I enjoyed posting daily reports, reviews, and
rants over the past four years – this site is about "handicapping." By
focusing exclusively on the NFL when the time comes, I hope to make 2004 a
very profitable year.
Finally, in closing -- I want to extend my best wishes to
Jack Wooden, Sr. The man is tough as nails and has a heart of gold. All of
us are rooting for Jack to win the biggest battle of his life.
Thanks to everyone for the enduring friendships I have
discovered here at MadJackSports.
