    Army-Temple....Smoo North Texas...and a few more....

    Temple -16,-16.5 and -17 over army *****
Line has jumped due to Bradshaw quitting the team and then coming back...more later on that....spent the whole summer following this game...will try to condense this as much as I can...
Army is hurting....they won 2 games lyr even though they played some tough games...the Navy loss was devastating because they had them beat and outplayed them...you would think that would carry them on to this year...but it won't...in July it was announced that their best overall player Kempers had a honor code violation and was kicked off the team{ although it was never said what he did I know it was a cell phone he used on a test in June}...I do get some inside info....he was their B-back or full back...big loss..then before that Jenkins their best def player announced he wasn't going to play....then just last week Bradshaw their starting qb quit the team...and the backup Carter who almost beat Navy has been out all spring and summer with injuries...there are 4 freshman Qb's backing him...but after 2 days Bradshaw came back and played friday nite in their last scrimmage...to much drama.... Offense...Bradshaw is good but cannot pitch the ball in option. he has so many mental errors...his big plays are the ones he scrambles on when things breakdown...he is very athletic and an avg passer...WR they have 6'5 Poe who they just throw up 'jump balls" too....OL is a problem...have a few back but no depth at all...Monken has moved more guys into different positions on the OL...they have no size but really don't need it in option...
Running game is a problem..w/o Jenkins its by committee...they have no fullback and don't have a lot of speed outside...thats what they have been doing the whole summer..trying to find some halfbacks.. they have moved some db's and LB's to halfbacks...
Defense has about 5 or 6 seniors back....DL gets no pass rush but is pretty good vs. the run..DB's are solid vs. run but have problems covering...new kickers and punters.. Monken worried about special teams...

Temple is loaded...Ruhle is in his 4th year has changed the culture...last yr they won 10 games and could win conf vs Houston or USF...Temple football will dominate this year in conf..they have one of the top rb's in the country in Thomas.. He had 1,200 yds and has some great moves...Walker their Qb is a dual threat..he can throw and run...Army has had problems with dual qb's since Benedict Arnold was commander of the Point.. Temple has solid wr's and TE's and they are all 6'3 and 6'4...this offense will cause major problems..Army will try to stop the run..and temple has enough talent to attack in the air..plus Rhule's biggest change on offense is he will be throwing to his backs...on defense temple is big, strong and athletic...DL is quick and LB's are experienced ..they lost Matevich one of the best linebackers in the country but their are many waiting to take his place...DB's are solid....great sp teams with everyone back from lyr...
Since Ruhle got there 3 years ago...his 1st year he lost to Notre dame on opening day..28-6 but was a +29 dog....2 yrs ago he was a +13 dog vs Vandy and beat them 37-7...lyr he was +6 dog vs Penn St and he beat them 27-10....last week in practice he was so upset with his 1st team offense he kicked them all out..later he said "that weren't focused enough"...

Think the Owls beat the Nites by at least 3 td's and maybe more...Temple will be focused...

Back later with Smoo-North Texas,Texas Notre Dame, and a few more....

    Temple 14.5 over Army ****
    Temple -16 over Army *****

Line dropped so played a few more *'s on the Owls...think "Temples "ballhawk" defense will give the Nites some problems...Army's option will score...they don't have other then qb blue chip players but the way they run their schemes they are competitive. Its Temple's offense that I think will dominate...Thomas is a breakaway back and will have a few big time gains...think the punt or return team gets a score or huge return...Army will blitz in their 3-4 defense but think the Owls new offense hitting its back with quick passes will cause Army defensive breakdowns...Monken said he will play 7 or 8 def linemen rotating in the game vs the owls huge OL...Tonite we will see who plays the fullback for Army...he keeps everyone honest on the defensive side..Owls have a 4 year starter at Qb who can run and pass...the most important thing is Temple is not playing Army between Houston and USF....in week 6....they open up vs. Army so Ruhle has prepared all summer for this option..to me that is one of the biggest factors tonite...Temple knows how to stop the option...can they read it and tackle...if they don't then the Nites can cover or win.....

Played racquetball this morning with 2 of my buddies that work at the Point...they are on Army big tonite...think they upset Temple ...hopefully they are 'homers"....

Smoo -9.5 over North Texas ****
line has now gone up to -10...think the Ponies give NT a beating....win by a few td's....back tomorrow am with an explanation.. hope everyone does good...thanks for the comments

For the world of me never understood this question? Let me break this down for you some.....there are some players that do really well playing favirites only.....then you have others that do well playing dogs only? So why does it matter to you what play a guy prefers to play? If you think that you have to play dogs to be successful at this, you are playing with fools gold. Anyways carry on just my 2 cents worth.

Not sure he would have made a difference. Temple defense is getting shredded. They are not a good team. Hope they lose straight up

Smoo -9.5 over North Texas *****
Spent just as much time on this game then the Army-Temple game and we all know how that ended..later to recap..
Both these teams cannot play defense...lyr they have up 41 and 45 pts a game...over 500 yds.. both teams won 3 games together..NT 1-11 and Smoo 2-10 total 3-21....and one of those Smoos win was vs NT 31-13..Smoo defense gave up 56,56,48,49,60,55 and ended their season vs memphis losing 63-0....but meanwhile the not so Mean Green gave up 62,49,66,55, and 56...the killer was giving up 66 to Portland...coach was fired that week....both teams return 8 starters on defense...so is that good or bad...got me? NT has a new coach from NC who is going to a spread offense...new coordinators, new style, new system, very little depth, etc..they did get a good qb in Bama transfer Morris...he has played outstanding in spring, summer and fall camp...has an arm...the problem is his top wr Smiley is being benched tonite due to a DWI a few weeks ago...his other wr's are all unproven...some have looked good in the spring and some can't hold onto the ball...they do get open though...NT has Wilson a solid rb.. OL is a big concern..last yr this offense only avg 15 pts a game..NT defense was unable to generate a pass rush and pressure the qb...secondary was "burned "for big plays over and over...
Smoo on offense has" 94% of their yard gainers back from last yr." 16 returning starters..they do have qb Davis who is a dual threat..he killed North Texas last yr...he is their main weapon...they also have one of the best WR in the conf in 6'4 Sutton...not sure if NT can stop this duo...this is Morris's 2nd year at Smoo so maybe they are getting to know his system...Smoo has Baylor next week so maybe they are overlooking the Mean Green...NT has dominated this series in Denton...2 yrs ago Smoo drove up on I-35 in Denton and got beat 43-6...NT thinks this is a new rivalry but its not to the Ponies...this game is actually called " The Safeway Bowl"...North Texas takes this game far more serious then the ponies....if you went to North Texas we always feel this complex.. Smoo always felt they are better off the field..they are private were NT is public...they have richer kids, drive better cars" they drive BMW's and we drive Honda Accords"..lol anyway think the Mean Green will need a few games under their belt with the new system...and though both defense probably still suck the Ponies have more weapons with Davis and co...

Ohio -21 over Texas St **
they have so many players back from lyr..

Took Houston +13.5 ** but that game is already started so it doesn't count. {hope your ok with that "homedog"

UCLA +3.5 over Texas AM **
    USC +12.5 over Bama **
    Clemson -8 over Auburn **
    and
Notre Dame -3 over Texas ***
    back tomorrow to explain..

Now lets talk about last nites game...it started out with Thomas being out..the line did jump down to -14 so that in itself was a sign...so instead of trying to see why... I put more *'s on it..really bright on my part...watched the whole game..kept trying to say " if thomas was playing no way this could be happening.. Nemmer you are right...even if Thomas played don't think Temple would of won or covered...Army OL and DL was outstanding..they controlled both line of scrimmages...Temple defense had no idea what the Nites were doing..it wasn't missed tackles but miss reads. Temple couldn't run the ball and their qb played terrible over throwing open wr's...Armys full back gained 130 yds and scored 2 td's..he was a linebacker 5 weeks ago...sorry bad breakdown on my part..hopefully the Ponies come through tonite...homedog.. I do go against the chalk...sometimes..did take Albany over Buffalo last nite..but also took Geo St..
    good Luck today...
Ohio -17.5 over Texas St *** sorry
