Snow,Ice,Sleet on a presidents holiday and a monday. and a few games

Dog lover, josh are you guys ok..
we got 5 inches of snow here in Austin . No snow shovels, no sand ,no salt except Mortons in the cupboard...all roads closed.. Starbucks and Valero closed.. had to have my wifes coffee made in that Keruig machine with those little cups... it sucked ... I have a 4 wheel drive car that this afternoon will take it out on all these closed roads. I have lived my entire life in NY state and 5 inches is nothing to me.. but without a shovel, sand and salt how does this melt.. well KXAN the NBC affiliate said only time and warmer weather can make this melt. and if you drive and get stuck and call the police for help they will ask you " how much gas do you have in your tank because we can't send out people to help you. " I swear that is what they said.. In NY there would be frozen dead people all over the roads.
I am trying to assimilate my NY ways of life to being a Texan.. I now have a drivers license, voted here ,sold my NY house and had a breakfast taco a few weeks ago .. but when they say the snow will melt on its own it has me scratching my head ... I do know I was wrong a few weeks ago by posting a Dairy Queen blizzard in facebook after NY got hit with a foot of snow.. I thought it was funny but all my brothers, sisters , former teachers and students didn't think it was funny .... but after awhile they realized I was never playing with a full deck anyway.
Doglover..your north of me and josh your south of me.. how about in April or May when the snow melts I'll treat you guys { see I didn't say ya'll} to a lunch ... I took my wife's Morton salt with the girl with the umbrella on it and spread it out to make a path to take my dog out. not sure if regular salt works ..
I am really trying to to change my life to my new home in Texas.. but its hard .. It took about 20 years to get the Bronx out of me to move an hour north of NYC .. But I don;t have another 20 years to play with..

back later with a few games

leaning so far with Chattanooga -1.5 over east Tenn but have to check it more ..yesterday played a few "off the beaten path games".. I need to get back on the path because I slid off ,, I need salt and sand on the path... back later

Lived out in Midland, TX for many years. Whenever we'd get 3-5" (very seldom) it would be gone the next day, or at worst the 2nd day. Can't recall it ever lingering. Same deal, no snow shovel, or anything else I was used to being from the northeast.

Box, Everything ok here. I took my sharpshooter to clear a path for my dog to go his "spot". Snow is all powder, no moisture in it. Snow on roof will melt because of the heat in your house, snow in yard will melt when temp gets above 32. Stay warm

    Some co-incidence

I didn't find my last post and saw your N.Y weather report and it read like my autobiography. I stopped in your thread a no. of times in the past quite awhile ago and it looks like you do a good job with the "ballers".

I grew up in Jersey City, N.J. and spent plenty of time in N.Y. visiting and staying with relatives. What a catastrophe NYC is these days and I guess the Burroughs are not doing well either. I spent time with my mother in Fla. after loosing a very good job in N.J. after working there for 12 yrs. and was lucky enough to get vested in that Co.'s pension plan that comes in handy now that I'm retired in Fla. Didn't take me long at all to get acclimated down here.

Texas? Yeah spent time there with my sister's place in Tex. I thought it was hot in Fla. Man, I sure as hell KNEW it was hot, hotter, HOTTEST in Tex. in mid summer. I can't believe I don't remember what city in Texas she and her hubby were in; it was quite awhile ago. I DO remember the "salt, shovel, and snow" in N.J./N.Y. fosho. Spinning tires getting in and out of parking spots in the snow is UNforgettable as well. BTW, he first job I could find in "sunny" Fla. paid less than HALF I was making up North. I don't think you'll have that prob. in Tex. if you're still working.

    Today's Ballers?
In my last post, I wrote that I will slow down on the posting EVERY day we're doing this season due to the dang Covid thingy. May even stop posting. Sure enough, today is a perfect day for that - weak card except for the Virginia game and, funny thing, the game you're working on is exactly the same game I tried to figure out. I also could not come up with finding a weiner in the Murrey St. game. If the Washington game wasn't an intrastate rivalry, I wolulda given that one a try. Anything goes (unpredictable) in those games especially with the double digit spread.

I think the best think to do today is DON'T try to force a pick, sit back and just enjoy the Caveliers/Gator game. Maybe come up with a 2nd half play after watching the first half?

Good luck in The Lone Star state and enjoy that "southern comfort" we have down here.

Wineguy, you got kickserv pegged right, is he STILL the Tennis Forum Bossman wannabe?
