OTTAWA (AP) -- The Ottawa Senators signed captain Daniel Alfredsson to a two-year contract Monday.
The 29-year-old right wing led the Senators with a career-high 37 goals and 34 assists last season. He made $3 million after missing all of training camp last September in a contract dispute.
It was the second time in his career that he had missed training camp.
Reports circulated since Friday that the Sens and Alfredsson, a restricted free agent, had agreed to a deal worth $9.5 million.
Alfredsson also led the team in playoff scoring with seven goals and six assists in 12 games.
In seven seasons with the Senators, Alfredsson has 160 goals and 250 assists in 474 games.
The Senators also signed two defensemen: 2000 first-round pick Anton Volchenkov and 2001 fourth-rounder Christoph Schubert.
Volchenkov played in Russia's Super League last season, collecting four goals and 16 assists in 47 games. Schubert had five goals, 11 assists and a team-high 125 penalty minutes last season in Germany's Deutsche Eishockey Liga. He played for Germany at the Salt Lake City Olympics and world championships.
