My dog gets very scared with all these fireworks this time of year.Just wondering if there is something I can give him to settle him down. Got a 60 lb. bulldog and he's as scared as a teacup poodle.

Love them bulldogs, parents had one, sis has one now. Check with your Vet., "doggie downers". Have another sis with a Mutt that feeds 'em to her dog all the time when company is around, not quite like the 4th, but that is one laid back dog when the family is around.
Ditto on the "doggie downers". I adopted a dog from the pound and had to medicate him afer he tore up my couch. He is fine now and off the meds but he was chilled out for a good three weeks.

no but seriously, my friend owns a kennel/vet and I just made a call for you she said that you should definately give your vet a visit. Bulldogs that get themselves to excited can end up breathing heavier which is hard on them, they can also have a heat stroke if your aware LIKE YOU ARE then you can give him a tranquillizer befor the fireworks start to make things easier on him. She did say DO NOT buy something for him over the counter for he can have a bad reaction.BUT remember the offer to babysit still stands GOOD LUCK!

Thanks everyone, waiting on the vet to call back. TBONEZ, appreciate the offer but I'd miss him. My kids tell me I spoil him. I can't understand that , just because he has his own pool and fan. PS He loves vanilla wafers. ( Has his own stash )

Got the dog some drugs . Vet said to give him 1 a day thru the weekend. Man is he mellow. Half the time his eyes looks like he just smoked a big fatty.
