boilermaker - Headed to Cancun myself after the New Year. I was down there 4 years ago on spring break which was insane! Should be much more relaxing when both of us are down there and ther is a lot to do. The Mayan ruins tour should be available no matter where you are staying. Also there are great places to snorkel for those who are not certified to dive all over. I'm also looking for places different than the $10 all-you-can-drink that I frequented last trip. Much cleaner and a more friendly place than Jamaica

Boilermaker you will enjoy Cancun, it is a great place and you guys will enjoy yourself.

I would offer some insight but I don't think your going to do things that I did.... unless you can get away from the wife for several hours....;)

A great bar i recommend though that you and your wife will enjoy is "Carlos O'Briens".

have a good time,

P.S if you are able to get away from the wife, ask jack for my email and I shall give you the info

:D

boilermaker- make time to go to Isla Mujeres. It is a short ferry ride from Cancun, but the scenery is great;) , and one of the coolest things I have ever done, was swimming with the dolphins.
Watched people do it at Xel Ha(sp?), and was not impressed, but at Isla Mujeres, it was worth every penny.
I am sure that your hotel will have a tour desk, and I would ask them about a trip to Isla.
If you have not been to Cozumel, I would not waste a day to see it. We rented a Jeep and drove around the whole island, not much there to see.
As rrc mentioned Casa Rolandi is a nice place to eat.
Enjoy yourselves, as there is plenty to do.

TTM- "Carlos O'Brien's"?? I remember Carlos&Charlie's and Pat O'Brian's but is this somewhere different? Just wanted to make sure you weren't putting the two bars I mentioned, which were a blast, together.

Above the Clouds....
Boilermaker,
What a coincidence, we're going in Feb. to celebrate our 28th and my birthday. We're staying at the Allegro Resort Playacar. First time for us. We only had a weekend honeymoon when we got married so we're really looking forward to this. Please let me know about the things to do or if just laying around is the thing to do. Hope you have a great time!!

Bob :)

Rent a Car, drive down the coast, down past Cozumel, and go see the Ancient Ruins at Tulum, I did that the last time I went with my g/f at the time and it was PRICELESS! :D (she will be mere putty in your hands):D

Keep going a little ways past Tulum and there is a nice, quaint, Restaraunt to eat at on the beach.......honestly everything is homemade, made from scratch, mexican food, and WILL be the best youve ever eaten if you like Mexican Food. And what makes it an even better place to eat you ask? No tourists, very romantic, and we ate like a king, had 4 beers, a couple margaritas and our bill was less than $25 US DOLLARS!

Enjoy bro, and congrats on 27 years:)

Oh, and if you want to get liquored up on the way to that Island, take the BOOZ CRUZ........you pay one price, get on the boat, and all drinks are free! Believe me though, dont get hammered on the way or you wont be able to enjoy the island NOR will you like the ride back! And i speak from experience, I hugged the rail the whole ride back:com:

All inclusive is the way to go in my opinion.......ive been i cant even count now how many times, and we used to stay at the Fiesta Americana down by Daddy Rocks, and it was wonderful, but all the drinks and stuff really started stacking up $$$$$, then we started going to MOON PALACE and love it, pay one rate per day, and eat and drink all ya want:D

Oh, and if you do rent a car, make sure you carry CASH on you. Because the 4 times we were pulled over (we didnt do a THING wrong--talk about profiling) we had to buy our way out of going to jail. He wanted to take me down one time for changing lanes without a turn signal......basically he wanted some $$$$, and even wanted my watch! Anyway, do whatever it takes not to go to jail down there, cuz once you go in, it almost takes an act of God to get you out..........
