eventhough gardenweasel doesnt like their accents, cause they dont talk like white men, they were not drunk and obviously there was no smell of alcohol or red watery eyes, the Cop 101 of probable cause for DUIs.

Weasel's dense, misinformed and hypocritical. He's not racist.

I am with the legal hispanics. What they were trying to establish with this video is that California was still operating illegal stops to check for a driver's license, which obviously most "illegals" do not have and it turns into a round up of illegals instead of a soberity check point, which are only legal in the United States to keep the roads safe from drunk drivers, because driving is a privlegde, however each individual has a consitutional right not to be illegally searched, seized or detained. When they kept asking if they were free to leave is Law School 101. An officer has to have Probable Cause to arrest you or keep you from leaving, here they clearly did not, they wanted to see their licenses, but never once said they suspected they were drunk, eventhough gardenweasel doesnt like their accents, cause they dont talk like white men, they were not drunk and obviously there was no smell of alcohol or red watery eyes, the Cop 101 of probable cause for DUIs. Legal hispanics were simply standing up for their RIGHTS not to be harassed by the police and having their IDs checked. While I understand it is simple for most on here to think they were just causing trouble, I'd disagree, just like most thought Rosa Parks was just causing trouble when she wouldnt move to the back of the bus, it would have been simpler if she just followed the "rules". Some things dont change without discourse.

How do you know they were legal? That fact was never established.

When you go to a movie, ball game, etc, the usher asks to see your ticket. None of you would think twice to show the proof that you paid for, and have the right to be at the event you are attending. You wouldn't stand there and argue for five minutes, "Why do you need to see my ticket?" "What did I do wrong?"

Personally, I carry my "ticket" to be in the United States with me every day, and fuck anyone who is "inconvenienced" by having to show their "proof of admittance" when asked by the proper authority.

I'm making a logical conclusion that they were legal, since they were driving around looking for a soberity check point and had prepared questions and a camera to record the reactions of the officers. Also, a quick google search of articles, establishes that they are legal.

Your movie and ballgame analogy is so flawed they are not even worth addressing, if you think that being in a private establishment is the same thing as driving in public than there is no point trying to debate this issue with you.

Its not about inconveinece and having to show your ticket to be in the US, its about not profiling one group of people because of their race. Also, its about making sure the "proper authority" are acting within their constitutional limits, which our Fathers, Fathers faught so hard to establish and protect. That's what makes that "ticket" you hold so valuable and passionate about.

Oh, BULLSHIT!

We have 20 million 'non-residents' living here, and not too many are black or white, sorry to tell you. If these two had a point to make.....swell.

I couldn't care less.

I couldn't care less if your feelings get hurt when a cop asks to see your ID, either. If 16 million of the 20 over here are Mexican, it's not profiling to check Hispanics. It's reality.

And if you think the USofA isn't a PRIVATE place....why do we have fucking boarders?????? My analogy isn't flawed, just because you don't like it.

I'm all for checking credentials for this country club, and it ain't caddy day, Jose!

last time i checked rosa parks didn`t break into this country...her ancestors were brought here against their will...

illegal aliens are breaking the law...there is a reason we have borders...

i called it like i saw it...two douchebag illegal alien rights activists trying to cause trouble....at a legal sobriety checkpoint(and last time i checked, that`s legal in cali)....if they`re sober fine...but if they aren`t legally licensed and aren`t here legally, get em the hell out....

how many crimes do they have to commit?..

i only hope hope that one of these civil rights` activists(not the two assholes in the video, the criminal they are trying to enable) doesn`t run over your kid one evening after having one too many cevesas`

you may like the idea of illegal aliens overrunning cali and arizona...bringing disease and costing the taxpayers a fortune....driving around drunk without being legally licensed...

yeah, they want work...but so does everyone that`s here legally....that`s what work visa`s are for...

we sure have some gullible mofo`s in here..nice logic there graffin...you can kiss my fundament...

Sobriety checkpoints are pretty sketchy. And because of that, even the ones that are allowed have to follow all sorts of rules (at least in California). Such as: they have to advertise ahead of time where checkpoint is going to be, have defined methodology for which cars they are going to stop (ie if the rule for that night is "stop every 4th car" they can't suddenly change that if they don't like the color of your skin or your grateful dead bumper sticker) etc.

Why are the rules so specific? Because this is America and stopping people randomly or in an organized fashion who are otherwise not exhibiting any suspicion of illegal activity was frowned upon by the people who fought for our independence. Governments don't HAVE to be all powerful and overbearing and the United States was the first, best example of that. Not that it lasted very long, but damn what a great idea it was.

didn`t you see all the signs,imf?......they sure did....

 good grief !

This.

Pretend the 2 guys in the video were white, the cops would have behaved the same way and we could have had this conversation without immigration muddying the waters.

Illegal immigration is a huge problem and worthy of it's own conversation to be sure, but separate from that, government run checkpoints for it's own citizens are alarming.

Well they were making a point. Of course, they approached that checkpoint with this encounter in mind... They were rebel-rousers. That's a good thing...

OK, so sometimes this sort of stuff is annoying or sophomoric... but a healthy country needs people testing the limits of government power lest it go unchecked and grow irreversibly.

you aren`t this dense,are you?...you fooled me....

this was a SOBRIETY check point...white,black,brown and chartreuse all get stopped....and ullegals that are unlicensed and driving around cali and arizona are a real issue....if they catch some drunks and some illegals that aren`t operating a motor vehicle lawfully, that`s great...i`m all for it...

you might enjoy the extra insurance premiums you`re paying to support these idiots...i don`t...

btw,did i miss the white guys that were waived through?...i must have...

you guys always try to stop reasonable argument by crying "racist"...doesn`t work here...sorry..

I know, I am saying so this conversation doesn't just turn into an immigration debate, forget they seemed mexican.

What I am saying is even if they were white the cops would have acted the same. I was trying to 'steer' the conversation back to sobriety checkpoints.

but the idiots that instigated this whole situation aren`t about "sobriety checkpoints"...they`re about undermining our ability to control our own borders....

i know you see that,bud...

.............................................................

I read the other day that auto insurance companys set rates in each state by how many ppl drive without insurance.

So it would stand to reason that Ariz, Tex, and Ca may have the highest auto rates in the nation.

I doubt your affected there in Maryland gardenw
