Did you ever have one of those teeth that something always seems to get stuck in it and then you use one of those little tooth picker things to get the food out? Then to top it off you bite into a peice of chewing gum last night and you snap that particular tooth right in half front to back right down the middle? I previously had a root canal in this tooth about 4 years ago. It's the top one on the right side five back. The only pain I had was when I would clamp my teeth together the piece that was loose would jab my gum. The dentist got me in this morning and pulled the loose piece out and put a temporary filling in. So when I smile it still looks like my tooth is there but the other interior half is now missing. I'm supposed to call him Thursday to let him know how it's doing. From what I understand my options are a cap or a crown in a week or two? Anyone else have any suggestions? Thanks!

Old School- Lawn Question- THIS IS IN THE WRONG SPOT!

Old School- Lawn Question- THIS IS IN THE WRONG SPOT!

Last night I was in my yard and I noticed I had all these little holes in the grass. Last summer I emptied my little fishbowl swimming pool into the yard and a week or so after that noticed that the grass was loose when I mowed and it would peel back like sheets on a bed. There were little white bugs under the grass. I have attached pictures. So I had a pile of ground (the big round area thats now smoothed out) that I spread out all over the area where I found these little holes. My first thought was that the chlorine in the water killed the grass because it seemed to be where the water layed for a few days afterwards. Then I was thinking maybe the water drew out these bugs. I also found the bugs in the pile of ground. There aren't any other patches anywhere else in the yard that's why I thought it had to do with the pool water. Oh and I started to throw some grass seed down til I ran out. Any Ideas? Thanks!

There's the insurance coverage price and then there's the no insurance price. Ask up front. "I don't have dental insurance, do you off non insurance prices?"

Maybe shop around?

This dentist is my regular dentist and he is very good-(he is in very high demand) The other dentist we have in town I don't care for just because I have heard horror stories about her. A good reliable dentist is hard to find here. YEARS ago Dr Bohn used to be my dentist and his son plays on the PGA tour.

Don't think the amount of chlorine in your pool would effect the grass that way? They look like grubs to me--using some grub x ?--but will defer to OS the expert on this stuff.

Sounds like you need a crown (I'm a dentist).

On shopping around for the lowest price crown- beware of basement prices. Dentists pay a lab to fabricate your crown. Guess how some of them offer such low prices...they have your crown made in China. There have been some reports of chinese-made crowns with lead in them. Just something to consider.

Thanks!- Will it hurt to put seed down at the same time or should I wait a bit? I probably should mow before the weekend and I will make sure to bypass the area. I could blow the grass clippings over the dirt?

seed fert ok..

get ya some kind of top/compost mix to cover the seed..

Moo-Nure from HomeDepot is an inexpensive option like 3 bucks a bag..

Thanks! I'm not 100% sure but I think he makes everything in his office? I know his turn around on waiting to get repairs like this is minimal from what other patients I know have said. I think it took him a day to get my bite guard done. I'm supposed to call him Thursday to let him know how I feel. He said we could discuss what I want to do then. I have almost no pain now- it's basically just where he stuck me with the needle and a little gum soreness where the tooth was. :0074

He might have something called cerec where they make the crowns in-house. It's pretty cool technology.

If part of your tooth fractured to or below the tissues you'll most definitely need full coverage (crown).

The temp filling is flush with my gum. When I run my tongue over it there is no ridge at all. He said too that the temp filling could errode over time also.

Consider dental tourism. By visiting a dentist in Mexico, India, or other less expensive countires, you can generally save between 60 and 90 percent relative to the cost of dental care at home. Once travel costs are factored in, you can still save a lot of money. THe more major the procedure (caps, implants, orthodontic work) the more it pays to travel a further distance. Even for relatively minor procedures, if you live close to Mexico, it might still pay to take that trip.

If considering dental tourism, understand that dental standards might be lower than they are in Canada and the US. There exist international dental referral services that can help you locate dentists that have been pre-screened for compliance with North American dental standards (see citations). You can also look independently for people who obtained a dental education in the US, UK, Western Europe or Canada, and who chose to practice in their home countries where the cost of living is lower.
