"So...yeah...turns out armed civilians really don't do much of anything. I mean they tend to stop people who appear to be out of bullets, and they confuse the police, and they also get shot. Yeah, they get shot. However, off duty police, security guards, and ex military do a pretty good job of stopping things. So, looks like training is key. And this business about being able to stop these tragedies "if I had my gun" is really nothing more than a male power fantasy. So, can we please stop pretending we're Charles Bronson now? Can we use reality to decide what to do about school shootings? " - Bryan L. Jones

"As I reported recently in our in-depth investigation, not one of the 62 mass shootings in the United States over the last 30 years has been stopped this way. More broadly, attempts by armed civilians to intervene in shooting rampages are rare?and are successful even more rarely."

If anything this article shows that we need more armed citizens. In how many of these instances was there an armed civilian nearby? What are the statistics in those cases? That article doesn't mean shit. The stories mention vigilante types that didn't have guns on them or even in close proximity, in their car etc.. Of course those examples didn't pan out.

Pull up some numbers or stories where armed civilians are getting shot while trying to stop mass murders and compare those with the number of mass murders that continue until Barney Fife shows up.

To say it doesn't do much of anything is nothing more than a pacifist's chicken shit fantasy.

Guns are used millions of times a year to stop crimes.

Why do you hate average people so much you want to leave them open to criminals?

'gun control' is a propaganda term

You don't want to control guns, you want to aid criminals and leave ordinary people defenseless.

It's a way of complete control just like hitler, take away rights of citizens is the beginning

You're actually wrong about that, Hedgehog. Hitler liberalized gun control laws that had passed in the Weimar Republic. The professional conservatives lie about this point in order to misrepresent Hitler as a socialist. He was, but not in the sense they mean.
