The ole Atheist vs Religion tune again

Only one can be correct--what are the consequences of each if their right or wrong?

We know consequences Atheist face if Christians are correct.

If Atheists are correct--then we Christians go through life with hope and support in times of death and other adversity--while Athiests can dwell on same with no hope or comfort from like thinkers but have satifaction knowing they were correct.

I believe I'll opt for chance of being wrong and benefit from the comfort/optimism and hope until during my lifetime

--rather than than go through life with no hope for self or family.

Each most definately go through life with entirely diff attitudes.

Seems like a no brainer to me.

Atheists lead equally as fulfilling family lives as believers.

IMO, most of them do not need the crutch that religion provides, which, by definition, would make them stronger individuals than believers.

I should add that religion provides a huge service in consoling the bereaved. This is my favorite part of religion:toast:

No we don't. We don't know anything.

Atheists aren't without optimism or hope and on average, I think they're more reverent for this form of life than an average Christian.

I think they're annoying as hell, though . . . .again, on average

In general, atheists tend to annoy me more than believers. It just seems like atheists that I know are more prone to bash believers, which gets under my skin. What ever happened to live and let live. However, bible thumpers, which I know a few, are the worst.

While all signs do point to no from where I'm standing, I have no proof in either direction, so will continue to allow both sides to vehemently defend something of which they are not sure:)

Jesus would have been a liberal.

I doubt he would be for bombing every brown nation.

I mean the guy was definitely a hippie.

I think he would have been a Libertarian,

Don't give him a fish, teach him how to fish...

Not really a pro-welfare stance

Get out and do something for yourself.... :0008

think of it like this:

if you believe in god, and there is a god, then your ok with him

if you believe in god and there isnt a god, oh well no big deal

if you dont believe in god and there is a god, well your fawked:scared

so ill atleast pretend i believe in something and play the odds. only way it ends bad is if you dont believe

really tho i have no clue, i just cant take ppl who bash eachother for their different beliefs. who gives a shit ....

what it really comes down to for me is science. so many different religous believes are shot down from science it makes one fairly skeptical. i hope there is a god and heaven is as great as they say (if i get it), but have no clue what to believe. maybe in age i will figure it out, but for now, give me a beer :toast:

Homer Simpson is correct yet again.

Lisa: Why are you dedicating your life to blasphemy?

Homer: Don?t worry, sweetheart. If I?m wrong, I?ll recant on my deathbed.

It would be no shock to see most atheists on this site to be more liberal. You know the people who do more independent thinking, where as the more conservative people on this site believe and do as told from generations, rush, and savage.

We have a winner. Believers also tend to vote based on religion instead of what would actually benefit them financially. Such as voting GOP only to keep gays from getting married at the expense of their own wallet. Works like a charm.

That is what I don't get. You have these neo-cons who love war and think by saying they believe that they would be saved. God would piss down their throats for the lives and beliefs they have held.

Your consistent misstatement that it's the Neocons who love war needs a history lesson TU.

so who gets into heaven

1.) A guy who rapes and murders but accepts Jesus on his last day on Eearth?

or

2) A guy who held a 9 to 5, good to his family, good to his community, and held no religious belief through his dying day?

Another questions
If I believe in an Indian Deity who says one thing will happen when I die, and another guy believes in Jesus who says another thing will happen when he dies, whose GOD wins?

Are Gods across different countries fighting over control of us in the sky?

Sounds like it could be an awesome fantasy movie.
