About Dayton

The Flyers have won three straight are averaging 74.7 points and out-rebounding foes by plus-12.0 in that span. ? In the Atlantic 10, they?re second in field-goal percentage (.473) and third in rebound margin (plus-5.3). ? They?ve out-boarded every foe but one this year and have had leads at halftime in each game. ? Benson has scored in double figures in four straight games, averaging 15.3 points, 8.0 rebounds and shooting 22-of-36 (.611) from the field. ? UD has won 34 of its last 39 December games since 2007-08. This is the first meeting between the two programs.

About FAU

The Boca Raton, Fla., school has a familiar face on the sidelines in coach Mike Jarvis. He?s taken three teams to the NCAA tournament: Boston U., George Washington and St. John?s. He made nine straight trips to the tourney from 1992-2000, landing in the Elite Eight with St. John?s in 1999. He?s in his fifth year with FAU and reached the NIT in 2011. ? The Owls have a former Parade All-American in freshman guard Stefan Moody, who is averaging 15.2 points off the bench. ? Gantt was a preseason All-Sun Belt pick and is 14th in the nation in scoring. ? The 7-foot Sekelja is a transfer from Baylor. ? The Owls have seven freshmen on their roster and lost by 24 at North Carolina and 20 at Mississippi State. ? UD and FAU have a common opponent in Arkansas State. The Flyers won by 13, the Owls by seven.

FYI

After finishing second nationally last year in foul shooting at 77.8 percent, the Flyers are shooting 67.8 this season and rank 192nd. Vee Sanford is third in the A-10 at 86.7 percent, while Kevin Dillard is tied for fifth at 85.4, but the Flyers have struggled overall ? at least when they play at home. They?re 68-of-111 (61.3 percent) in their domicile and 63-of-77 (81.8 percent) in neutral-site and road games.

?We don?t make them at UD Arena. We can make them anywhere else,? coach Archie Miller said disgustedly. ?But (getting to the foul line) is a key for our team. We?ve got to keep banging in the paint, keep banging at the rim.?
