I could not agree more, when are people just going to take it easy, they are just words.
For example tonight someone interviewed one of the Tigers players, first thing he said was, Man we need to take our hats off to the Oakland team, they really fought hard.

He was already on probation over some jewish remarks he made a year or two ago, and just last week he made fun of someone who was visually impaired. He had it coming

I don't know much about what he may have said about the Jews. But i sure as hell know what he said about the visually impaired guy.
First he made a comment a game before about what the guy was wearing on his eyes, having no idea that he was visually impaired.
i too wondered what the heck the guy had on as well. they looked like some new type of binoculars.

then the following game , i guess they had researched it and then found out that they were some type of vision assisted glasses.
then HE repeatedly said that he was sorry if he had offended him or anyone else.
I dont even think that was needed. sorry my ass if anyone was offended. look he didnt have a white cane and not wearing a shirt that said , hey i am blind.
he did nothing that i thought was inappropriate. i too would have been just as curious.

I think what i am trying to say is, if everyone thought that everything that came out of someones mouth was sincere, then we would need this PC world we live in, but it isn't.
example: too things that come to mind.
when you first greet someone, what is the most likely response?
Pleased to meet you. right
How do u know that it "was" a pleasure to meet me, i could be a real asshole.
yet a majority of people always say, pleased to meet you.
to me that is not sincere, wait till after you get to know me a little , then acknowledge that it was a pleasure.
another thing is when someone asks, hey where is ur "family member"?

are you? did u really know them? are u going to loose sleep, just as i did when i found out?
dont think so. again not too sincere.
so when someone flys off at the mouth, with some racial slur, i too just think that it wasnt sincere. Therefore should not be held against that individual, unless u know them.

What I find interesting in this whole thing is that Lou Piniella might be the absolute worst announcer I've ever listened to and he doesn't get fired for sucking so bad.
Surprised no one else has mentioned this. I thought at first that he was mentally retarded or had a speech impediement. HE YELPS A FEW WORDS.....THEN PAUSES...........THEN A FEW MORE. Maybe the worst announcer outside of McCarver
Let me know where I'm misunderstanding why he got fired. Didn't he imply that Latins are thieves on a national broadcast? I heard it live, but didn't put 2 and 2 together. When I read it in print I felt he deserved it. Good move for FOX because they benefited more from firing him vs. keeping him over this issue. You have to be very PC in a job like that.
I ripped him earlier in the series (MLB Forum). Said him and Ditka should call it a day. Neither brings anything to their braodcasts.
Steve Lyons should have been fired years ago for other dense comments.
If I remember correctly, he has always publicly stated that the officiating has no overall affect on any the outcome of any sporting event. Bad calls/call will not have an influence on whether or not one side wins or loses.

Steve Lyons is a dipshit - I've seen him at Dodger games a number of times, he's always trying to score some poon off some nasty ass MILF with 2 kids...plus, he sucked when he played.

As a side note, he was on my flight a few weeks ago from LA to CHI - I had a screaming kid on my lap (in first) and his dumbass rolled back to coach!! I guess he'll be flying coach a lot now!!
