Second Half Record: (1-2)

CUBS +117
This will be my biggest play of the year so far. As Raymond would say, "Lock and Load!" The Cardinals are winning road games at a 65% clip (30-16). This just cannot continue! The Cubs are a solid home team (27-19), and they are much better than they have been playing recently (3-7 last 10 overall). Glendon Rusch has been outstanding this year for Chicago (5-1, 3.77 ERA). He faces Matt Morris (10-6, 4.20 ERA), who is somewhat overrated in my opinion. This is one of the best rivalries in professional sports, and I see the Cubbies bouncing back in a big way today in front of the home crowd!

Good luck to everyone! :)

Best of luck --- always pull for the guys that are willing to put their necks out and post a GOY play.

Hope the Cubs come up huge for you.

Gl Livin Large!!!!!!! As stated above I always wish the best for those who go out with a game of the year play. The Cards are just so HOT right now and the Cubs are not, but I hope you're right.

Game of the year. Now, Thats funny. Morris is 10-2 career verses Cubbies. STL is the hottest team going and Cubbies struggling. I can see you playing game but GOY, thats funny.
Good luck!

Ranstl, you wouldn't happen to be a St. Louis fan would you? You're looking at this game with complete objectivity right? We will see who has the last laugh around 5:30 EST. Good luck!

You most definitely have large cajones! I hope you are right, as I am a huge Cubs fan, but I have no faith at all that they can win this one. Morris just always kills the Cubs, and I think their record in day games right after night games is pretty bad (I'm pretty sure of that, but I don't know the numbers). Plus the combo of Morris pitching less than he's capable of this year while Rusch has been much better than he has any right to be . . .

On the other hand, Ben Sheets owns the Cubs too, and that didn't prevent the Cubs from getting a 5-0 win over him on Saturday.

Hope you nail this one and the Cubs get some momentum going again.

Ranstl, here are some numbers for you to consider:

Morris is 11-3 lifetime against the Cubs, but he didn't pitch too well against them on 6/9/04 (5 innings, 8 hits, 4 earned runs).

Morris has received an average of 5.9 runs in his starts this year. Don't tell me your ace is as good as his 10-6 record indicates!

Rusch is (3-1, 2.91 ERA) lifetime against St. Louis.

Since you appear to be a numbers guy, I just thought I'd add some of my own. Good luck!

Kansas City area for who knows how long....
numbers....

numbers....

sorry for the late post, but wanted to mention this..

those W/L records based on official decisions can be misleading. Much more relevant to bettors is the team record in a pitcher's starts. Especially recent and home/away.

for example, Lohse is 3-7 this season--tho MN is 11-8 when he starts.

And Morris is a good example. STL is 5-4 last three seasons at Chi when Morris starts, and 7-0 at home!

Rusch's teams are 5-10 in his career starts against STL, 1-4 at home.

another one is MTL is 6-14 in Hernandez' starts, tho his official record is 6-9.

Terryray, your point is well taken. Morris' 11-3 career record against Chicago didn't do much for him today. Eldred had to relieve him in the second inning (7-1 Cubs). Good luck! :)

LL, I am partly a numbers man. That's why I couldn't understand this as a GOY play.
Cards have won 12 of last 15, 17 of 22 and are 35-12 since May 27th. Cubs have not been playing that good of the last few weeks. I am just saying that I could not of made this my biggest wager of the year. good luck.

The Cardinals are unbelievable and the Cubs are downright pitiful! What else can you say?
