Apparently, this guy has been an extremely good business man.

I would imagine that he understands the COGS, err, COST of GOODS SOLD, etc of his business and if he says that he can't afford to charge another 14 cents for his pizzas, I'd be inclined to believe him.

I do know from a report on the local news, perhaps regarding Papa Johns, that a franchise owner used to have a margin of 10% per pizza and now has 2%.

Do I think he needs to live in a castle?

NO.

But, he earned his money and he can spend it how he wishes.

1. You cannot bring about prosperity by discouraging thrift.
2. You cannot strengthen the weak by weakening the strong
3. You cannot help the poor man by destroying the rich.
4. You cannot further the brotherhood of man by inciting class hatred.
5. You cannot build character and courage by taking away man's initiative and independence.
6. You cannot help small men by tearing down big men.
7. You cannot lift the wage earner by pulling down the wage payer.
8. You cannot keep out of trouble by spending more than your income.
9. You cannot establish security on borrowed money.
10 You cannot help men permanently by doing for them what they will not do for themselves.

Right behind you
if he says that he can't afford to charge another 14 cents for his pizzas, I'd be inclined to believe him.

Even you, ssd, cannot be that gullible. Pizzas are not priced to the nearest 14 cents. when did you ever see a pizza priced @ $9.31? $12.63?

They're virtually always priced on whole dollar increments, whether it's $4.99 at Little Cesar's, $9.99 at Pizza Inn, or $!7.99 at the gourmet pizza joint.

And it's always priced, not according to the COGS, but to the competition.

And, if costs increase by 14 cents, then all the pizza joints will have the same cost basis increase, and pizza will go up 14 cents everywhere.

In actuality, depending on the competition, they'll either go up a dollar, or cut their costs 14 cents.

They have tricky ways to cut costs -

Introducing our NEW Exta-Thin, Extra-Crispy Crust!! Eat more pizza and lose weight too! Just a dollar more than our regular pizza!!!!

I bet it costs Papa johns under 50 cents to make a pizza. He can just raise the price of pizza 25 cents and he can sport another 11 cent profit, on top of the obscene amounts they make now.

Also if his employees are provided health insurance, perhaps they will work harder and be happier in their work, which will increase productivity.

So you may end up with happier employees which would add up to happier customers which would mean more money.

Dude, how the fuck are the rich being destroyed at present and don't even mention Obamacare as it is not even in effect yet. Please tell me how the fact that Romney's tax rate is lower than mine and how he is getting fucked.
Such fucking crap. I hate what poor losers the GOP and its followers are. Like fucking sheep.

Keep in mind that I said I am wanting to know EXACTLY what has weakened the rich when they have gotten exponentially richer over the last few years... This should be a great reply. Lie being the key syllable.

Hope that helps,
FDC

GOP?

I support and voted for Gary Johnson.

Why should I even bother to reply when you already know the answer, FDC?

Lie. Your mind is already made up.

Be a complete waste of my time.

The 10 points I listed are completely true.

Take a look at the mass exodus of the RICH from France now that their tax rate has gone to 75%.

Look at the mass exodus of rich leaving California for the same reasons - tax rates - and more will be leaving after this past election cycle.

And before you flame away, FDC - you might want to take a look at Gary Johnson's stances on the issues.

Duff - the majority of the money made in the fast food restaurant business, even restaurants in general, are made off beverages. I think one as schooled as you would know that. I once owned 2 franchises and managed a bar. You do not make your money on food. That $1.99 soda you bought probably cost the fast food joint about $0.19 - with the majority of that being paper cost for the cup, lid and straw.

Regardless of what YOU want to believe, the REALITY of the situation is that business owners are cutting jobs because of the Affordable HealthCare Act and other regulations. The situation will continue to worsen. I can't wait until the State of California or Illinois asks for a federal bailout. It is coming. First one will get the best deal - then there will be a deluge as a number of states will run to DC with their hat in their hands.

Greece is BROKE and each citizen (not taxpayer) carries a $44k debt load for Greece.

US in (not?) BROKE and each citizen (not taxpayer) carries a $218k debt load for the USA.

Add an additional $6 trillion of new debt to current levels by 2016 and I am not even factoring in the $1T added each year from the Affordable Healthcare Act.

Yet, the brain dead here think that taxing the rich will close the gap. The rate increase on the people making $250k or more will generate $42 Billion (with a B) in 2013 and $34 Billion (again, a B) in 2014. - -- This from the CBO. The US government is spending that biannual savings in THREE FUCKING DAYS.

The tax the rich mantra would be #4 on the list above and is not about revenue; it is about politics. PERIOD.

His applied tax rate is exactly the same as anyone who makes as much net income as he does.

The difference is he takes advantage of legal deductions and uses other legal strategies to legally shield his income from being taxed.

That apparently makes him both richer and smarter than you.

Let's all vote to reform the tax code...I'll start>>>yes.

Meanwhile, if the pizza guy owns the business, he can charge what he wants and lawfully hire who he wants and we can all choose to buy his product or not. Just look at what the negative press, protests and boycotts did for Chick-Filla...a record quater of volume and profits.

FDC...you appear much more intelligent when you look in the mirror and don't talk. Please don't reply.

Who cares about the French? The point is you said weaken the rich. As if a tax hike would weaken the rich. At least they can afford to move. I also don't think that lowering their taxes increases the amount of money they spend. The only thing that weakens the rich is the wealthy. Poor babies have to move out of California now that Arnold is gone. Awwww, they all look so weak too. I am not into flaming you brother and I don't know your politics only what you wrote. I asked for specific examples and excluded the Obamacare reply that I knew was to follow and you gave me none. I have no reason to flame you or to even open this thread again. It's useless and uninformative.

Ok, FDC. Maybe open your mind up a little - you might learn a thing or two. Raising tax rates above a certain level has been proven to decrease tax revenue. Best way to increase tax revenue is to increase to pool of people paying taxes.

Sheep, FDC - look in the mirrow when you buy into the class warfare crap.

How many poor people create jobs?
How many paychecks have you gotten from the homeless guy down the street?
Where does that money come from?

As for Romney's tax rates? Hate the game not the player. Tax code in the US is horrible. I do not fault the man for being smart with him money - I do not know why anyone would? Do you hate the old lady in the grocery store who uses coupons, too?

Azbob, you aren't man enough to tell me what to do pussy so quit fucking naming me in any of your posts. I never address you in any of my posts unless I have replied to your dumb ass. Damn near every fucking mindless idiotic post you make, you post something about me. I don't like men, boys, or twinks, that means you. I am sick of your childish stalking of me. I don't post in your threads nor do I follow you around and continually try to get under your skin. I know you probably slam a hammer into your ass every night thinking about me but keep that shit, no pun intended, to yourself and stay the fuck away from me. Grow the fuck up you little bitch and quit acting like a cunt.

SSD,
There are also studies that show, that cutting taxes for the rich doesn't increase spending. As far as I know, homeless people aren't considered middle class or upper class so not part of the discussion. I am middle class and I employ people. Those that are terminating people because of Obamacare are only doing it for personal reasons or supposition and while it may continue, it will not escalate as someone will most likely get sued. People like Papa John and Trump are stupid enough to do it and how anyone that has taken a third grade history class that thinks capitalism works didn't do well in school or life.

I disagree with you laying all that crap on the President and not holding the previous administration responsible for any of it. You mention the stimulus like it the plague and it seems that you think its only Democrats on state aid.
