but 21 points for the bows to cover might be a little much. Any one have any thoughts on this game. What I don't understand is how in the world Idaho only lost by 9 points at Gonazga.

I saw that to, and was wondering the same thing. The line was 20 earlier and has gone up...Hawaii has not looked like a team that should be laying 21 to anyone in the few games I have seen.

gonzaga had the maui trip on deck and games against maryland, michigan state, and uconn.

if you recall, uconn also had the maui trip on deck when they played out in pepperdine and they were in a dogfight early on in the 2nd half and the final score was much closer than 75-56. point being, however, that you have to give uconn and gonzaga a free pass in those season openers because those were just textbook lookaheads that neither took seriously.

also worth noting that the gonzaga road game was a true anomaly because after that, they have been annihilated in every single game away from home

90-67 at washington
63-37 at washington state
81-48 at portland state (yikes)
70-44 at nevada
71-64 at north dakota state
83-58 at utah state
89-54 at fresno state

and this team needs a trip to the island? lol

Not my write-up but....

Idaho (3-15) at Hawaii (10-8)

The Sports Network

DATE & TIME: Thursday, February 2nd, 12:00 a.m. (et).

FACTS & STATS: Site: Stan Sheriff Center (10,300) -- Honolulu, Hawaii. Television: None. Home Record: Idaho 3-7, Hawaii 10-2. Away Record: Idaho 0-8, Hawaii 0-6. Neutral Record: Idaho 0-0, Hawaii 0-0. Conference Record: Idaho 0-7, Hawaii 4-4. Series Record: Idaho leads, 6-0.

GAME NOTES: Winless on the road this season, the Idaho Vandals head to the South Pacific where they will search for that elusive first victory away from home in 2005-06 when they meet up with the Hawaii Rainbow Warriors in Western Athletic Conference play from the Stan Sheriff Center in Honolulu. On Monday night, the Vandals were trampled by the Fresno State Bulldogs at the Save Mart Center by a score of 89-54. The setback was the ninth straight for Idaho, which is winless in conference play since coming over from the Sun Belt and has only non-conference triumphs over Southern Utah, Eastern Oregon and North Dakota State to show for its efforts. As for the Warriors, they too are winless on the road this season in six tries, with the most recent setback being a 63-52 outing versus Utah State in Logan on Monday night. It was the second straight loss for the Warriors and brought them down to an even 4-4 in league play as a result. With respect to the all-time series between these two schools on the hardwood, the Vandals have won all six of the previous meetings with Hawaii heading into this meeting.

Tanoris Shepard played 37 minutes against Fresno State earlier this week and squeezed out a team-high 11 points and eight rebounds, even though the Bulldogs' defense held him to just 3-of-14 shooting from the field. Brett Ledbetter added 10 points for a team that finished the night shooting a meager 33.9 percent from the field and losing the battle of the boards by a count of 41-26 on the road. Defensively the Vandals were helpless as they watched FSU convert 14-of-28 shots behind the three-point line. Shepard leads the team in scoring with 15.2 ppg, but he's the only player on the roster capable of hitting for double digits on a consistent basis. He also leads the group with 63 assists and 29 steals and is among the leaders with 4.2 rpg, which means very few of his teammates are doing much to get the team past the three-win plateau. Shooting just 41.2 percent from the field, leading to only 59.9 ppg is certainly reason for concern for the Vandals.

Julian Sensley accounted for a team-high 14 points and pulled down five rebounds for the Warriors as they bowed to the Aggies of Utah State earlier this week on the road. Deonte Tatum and Matt Lojeski both shot 4-of-12 from the field and finished with 10 and nine points, respectively, with the former tacking on five rebounds and a team-high five assists in an effort to get Hawaii over the hump. In addition to just 6-of-9 shooting at the free-throw line, the Warriors also suffered beyond the arc (4-of-19). Sensley is a player capable of taking over a game or disappearing into the flow without being heard from, and one never knows which version is going to come out to play on a given night. He's still first in scoring for the Warriors with 16.4 ppg, but is also shooting a mere 24 percent behind the three-point line. Lojeski checks in with 13.8 ppg and Ahmet Gueye 11.9 ppg to go along with his team-high 7.7 rpg. Just 62.2 percent accuracy at the charity stripe is beginning to take a toll on the squad.

The 52 points by the Warriors matched a season-low previously logged in a six- point loss to Wisconsin-Milwaukee on the road in early December, so they are not exactly getting any better. However, this meeting with the Vandals could not have come at a better time because this is almost a guaranteed win for the home team.

Sports Network Predicted Outcome: Hawaii 72, Idaho 61

I know good things usually don't go well when you exepct a bad team to cover for you, but like Phenom said Hawaii hasn't actually been playing all that well the past couple of games.

Going to take a small shot here
