He was in the NYY farm ranks, so being from Columbus, OH I have seen him pitch many times. He was a great prospect from about 1999-2001. Then he got called up and his career went to the chitter. Keisler has no composure. He is great if the pressure is off, but when the pressure is on he is jumpy and loses it. He got hurt in 2001, I think it was, had shoulder surgery then as he was trying to come back, he got bitten by a rattlesnake and was out even longer
He had many nice games as a member of the Columbus Clippers, I remember seeing him strike out like 18 batters one night and had a one hitter. Joe Torre loved him at one point and gave him a ton of chances, but he blew every one of them. I fully expect him to blow this chance as well.
He may keep the game close for awhile, but one inning it will all go astray. He will get a couple guys on base and totally lose composure.
This is his last chance to be a mainstay on a major league club. He pitched well at AAA so far this year, so lets see if he has matured enough to pitch well at the major league level. He has the talent, but does he have the mental game?
I say no.
