Remember the dems and their ranting on pork spending---

Pork Report

The Club for Growth advocacy group has released its report on how members of Congress voted for 50 amendments designed to reduce or cut excessive spending ? also called "pork" ? from appropriations bills.

The highlights ? 16 members voted for all 50 anti-pork measures. All 16 are Republicans. 105 members had a perfect score the other direction ? voting against all of the anti-pork amendments. All of those 105 were Democrats.

reminds me the story of the pig and the cow.

a rich man once asked a friend. Why am I criticized for being miserly ? Everyone knows I will everything to my kids when I die.

The friend responded. There was once a pig and a cow.

The pig was telling the cow one day about how unpopular he was. How people hated pigs, called pigs names and worse.

People are always talking about your gentleness and how you give milk and cream , but I give more.

I give bacon, ham , gristle, pigs feet and more.
And still nobody likes me. Why said the pig ?

The cow said " well maybe its because I give when I am still living"

Yes, I would love to see what system this "Club For Growth" used to reach that outcome. You can't be serious. DTB? What a joke.

Smurph last night around 330 am i woke up and channel surfed. I put on Fix News and Dogs two post today are word for word what i saw on Fox. I just don't see CNN openly trashing Republican candidates with an agenda like this comedy station. In the half hour i watched it, not one bad word was said about one Republican. Usually when there is something bad said about a Republican there is a D next to his name by a mistake.

It's amazing how that happens. They had a D next to Mark Foley prominently fixed on the screen for over an hour during that fiasco. Then again next to Arlen Spector's name when he was grilling Gonzales in the Congressional hearings.

The network realizes that their audience is reactionary and generally not very studious. They will consume these errors without question. This crap is straight from Murdoch's playbook.

I'm saying I have no idea what they are measuring. What's the criteria? What amendments? Please show some detail. ....any detail.

That organization blatantly promotes the Republican party. More than likely they are creating a custom scoresheet to promote their view. All you've done is take one sentence from their website and paste it hear as if means something. Unless it's explained, it means absolutley nothing other than an unsupported politically biased statement.

This presumption you/they make has no validity anyway. The GOP had control of Congress for 12 years and did nothing to reduce 'pork'. ...absolutely nothing. What is your explanation for this contradiction? If the GOP is concerned at all about excess spending, why didn't they do something about it when they had 12 years to do so?

The fact is that more is being done now than had been done in all that time and you (as well as many Republicans) are now panicking to figure out a way to squirm out of your embarrassment - rather than just manning up and admitting that progress is being made by people you don't like. Throw as much mud and create as many custom voting scorecards as you like but it won't change the facts.;) :)

yeh i am just tired of thinking too hard.
Maybe you should take a vacation. You don't want to be limping into the football season without all your faculties.

I just had vacation.

There will be no limping into football season.

Running and crashing in is my preferred method.

I got some huge plays lined up already.

Got to take things slow though.

One of my strengths is I know when to step in and slam it down hard.

It seems simple enough.

thanks for your concern though smurph, I think from the posts you have made recently , you should also consider being checked.

I think we will see Eddie Haskell there wearing a Bush/Cheney pin.

My only problem is being stuck in Vegas in July-August. I'll be right as rain (whatever that saying is supposed to mean) as the temps drop.

I'll be watching for your "Slam It Down" plays. Keep an eye on the selections from the season-long contest I'm having with Hippo and Kramer. I expect some profits to come from that thread.:00hour

Pretty simple...Wayne, maybe, since you posted this, you can explain what constitutes an anti-pork measure, as they offer up? Do they list the bills, or just tell us what we need to know? Do they give any listing of what they are talking about - at all?

If not...please stop posting tripe from conservative blogs...as you consistently tell us to stop posting unreferenced material from liberal blogs.

Maybe you should have held back from posting this, considering how heavily right this website leans - with no verification? I thought this kind of thing was a big deal to you...:nono:

I know a lot of Democrats who have voted against the war in Iraq and ongoing funding of that over the past couple of years. What bigger pork project is there than that?

However another look from diff perspective--do google search on pork spending audit--and see how many liberal orgs have anything up on subject :)

What say me? You use a sentence put forth by this right wing blog claiming a vote count on 50 AMENDMENTS designed to reduce or cut excessive spending. Surely you can see the wiggle room in this kind of comment? Do republicans and democrats agree on what is excessive spending, when you are dealing with different amendments? What is excessive? What is considered pork by both groups?

Again, is there a listing of the AMENDMENTS? Are some listed together as add ons to existing legislation? I assume that is what an amendment is, right? Who proposed the amendments?

Can you please show a listing of what they are? Until you do, this remains a biased joke. I didn't think you could, I guess this proves that?

DTB - seriously - you are being completely ridiculous. Yes - as Chadman says, please show us this famous list of amendments. ...And while you're at it, please explain how a Republican dominated congress did nothing except INCREASE pork spending for 12 years. If this party is so concerned about wasteful spending, why have they done nothing except encourage it for the past decade?

What say you?
