When your the best....winning speaks for itself.

Only guy I that I can remember that won 6 championships without a bonafide center.

Unless you count Bill Cartwright in his late years.

Are you really basing this on this series? Is Kobe better? No. I really doubt anyone will ever be better than MJ.

But its as if you are saying that because Kobe can't consistently beat 2-3 defenders every single time down the court, then that is why he is worse.

Gasol played like a pus the entire series and often looked like he was throwing games. Not many others stepped up and allowed Kobe to be double-teamed by the best team in the league almost the whole series. Sometimes it was more like 3 guys were on him.

I'm not a Kobe fan, but I respect his game as the league's best. If you want to bash him for this series when so many others did not step up, then I have to bash you for this post and the others who replied.

Or, perhaps call you "Captain Obvious" by comparing anyone to Jordan. Sad.

Not having a dominant center is tough, but it sure helps to have some average big men to go along with Pippen, Rodman, Kukoc, Grant, etc.

This Laker team was more of a "late 80's" Jordan team, back when people were asking if Jordan could win the big one.

Jordan is by far the best, but in the end its a team game. Ask Jordan about his days with the Wizards...

Ask Jordan about his days with the Wizards...

He'll say he had a fine career for the greatest player to play the game and he didn't want to leave it although his skills were no where near what they were at his peak. He kept playing because he knew in a league stocked with the amount of weak talent like the NBA is, he was still able to play better than 75% of the players with 50% of the awesome ability he once had.

...NOT

This Laker team isn't going to win it all let alone ever get near what the Bulls team ended up accomplishing.

That sounds a lot like "Jordan will never win a title, doesn't it?" Not to mention, I was only saying that the guys around him this year were much more similar to Jordan's 80's teams than his 90's teams...

I guess CieGrant is going to say "Really?" after every 4th post from now on....good insight.

kobe is a great player, not mj though. my opinion is that lebron is even better than kobe and i know he is ahead of kobe and mj at the age he is now. boston could not guard lebron with 1 person but they did guard kobe with 1 person (paul pierce). just my 2 cents worth.

Under a mask.
The Media not us brought up that Koby was "just as good if not better than Jordan " Before this series was started.

Unless you were under a rock somewhere it was hard not to hear this pregame garbage. So its sad for the media who played this up.Not "US" who yes are :mj07: are arses off at this garbage!!

Kobe was not guarded by one person...what series did you watch? Yes, at times Pierce guarded him but he always had help behind or beside him. If anyone on the Lakers could have consistently stepped up to make them play Kobe 1 on 1, Lakers would have had a chance. At times it felt like he was tripled team...

jordan was 55 yrs old when he played for the wizz.

kobe is the most skilled scorer in the game today, but he is not jordan and should not be compared to him - this is isn't his fault. it gives the media something to drool about.

jordan's bulls would have destroyed these celtics.period. rodman would have kept pierce down, plus pippen could and would have guarded any of the celts at a given time. the bulls had 4 thugs at center to totally frustrate garnett, and jordan would have been playing help D all night because rhondo is no threat.

there is no comparision unless you take jordan away from the bulls and give them kobe - hey then my man Barkely gets a ring !!!!!!

Your not listening to what is going on here.
The media brought up the pt.,that Kobe was just as good if not better than than jordan. Were :mj07: at it cause its a farse ,its not the truth.

and even if you went the way of whos guarding who, didnt Jordan score 60+ pts against boston in the 80s in the playoffs only to lose that series in 4 or 5 games!! :00hour

Ok, see what your saying. I do wish the original poster had put it that way, but I get it. At the same time, Kobe (not "Koby" LOL) is pretty dam close to Jordan in ability. I think he's a couple notches down in both his game and consistency, but that is a hell of a compliment to give anyone.

So the media is hyping him up but isn't too far off, and either way, the question doesn't hinge on the last 6 games. Not for fans or the media.

When his career is over, I think Kobe will arguably be in the top 5 best ever.
