This Laker team was more of a "late 80's" Jordan team, back when people were asking if Jordan could win the big one.
If you want to bash him for this series when so many others did not step up, then I have to bash you for this post and the others who replied.
Or, perhaps call you "Captain Obvious" by comparing anyone to Jordan. Sad.
Ask Jordan about his days with the Wizards...
Is Kobe better? No. I really doubt anyone will ever be better than MJ.
...NOT
This Laker team isn't going to win it all let alone ever get near what the Bulls team ended up accomplishing.
Not having a dominant center is tough, but it sure helps to have some average big men to go along with Pippen, Rodman, Kukoc, Grant, etc.

Jordan is by far the best, but in the end its a team game. Ask Jordan about his days with the Wizards...
Kobe was not guarded by one person...what series did you watch? Yes, at times Pierce guarded him but he always had help behind or beside him. If anyone on the Lakers could have consistently stepped up to make them play Kobe 1 on 1, Lakers would have had a chance. At times it felt like he was tripled team...
Ok, see what your saying. I do wish the original poster had put it that way, but I get it. At the same time, Kobe (not "Koby" LOL) is pretty dam close to Jordan in ability. I think he's a couple notches down in both his game and consistency, but that is a hell of a compliment to give anyone.
So the media is hyping him up but isn't too far off, and either way, the question doesn't hinge on the last 6 games. Not for fans or the media.
When his career is over, I think Kobe will arguably be in the top 5 best ever.
