1:46.4 record breaking time for the Whitney Stakes last weekend was contested by the DRF as inaccurate compared to the racing times earlier in the day. Saratoga's track judge hand timed the race and the Video confirmed the time verifying the record. LR is back and Pletcher has him sharp.
Also, Monmouth Park, Del Mar, Saratoga and Woodbine have excellent cards this racing weekend. FYI

Patrick Biancone and Julien Leparoux are French Nationals. J.L. gets 1st dibs on all Biancone stock and do very well.

Dan I didn't watch all the Spa races today but I checked the NYRA website for the results. I thought I saw Shakespeare winning his race??

Thanks NYM, I try to steer my efforts toward the info side of this end of the forum. I lean toward speed, pace setters etc. This new polytrack is safer but also denser, causing my style of runner to tire or get caught in pace duels they aren't handling well. If I put up a 12 or a 15/1 runner and it bets down to 8 or so, I'm on the right track. I enter a ton of ego contests on different sites, so I get alot of feedback from handicappers all over the place. This is primarily a people sport site-me and Axle are pretty much the only steady posters for horses over the past couple of years. Keeping the losses manageable makes the wins nicer. Again, thanks

No problem Dan. THanks for your style of handicapping. I am a newbie to the horse racing game but love it. I try to get as many different perspectives to 'capping that I can and then try to find a style that works for me.
The one area I need to work on is the maiden races. Do you and Axle rely on pedigree, trainer or workouts when trying to handicap a maiden race??

Thanks and good luck!!!

Most of the above. Personally I stick to Sprints, 5.5-6f. Avoid: Mdn old claimers-usually professional losers. To simplify, Pletcher has a guy who works wonders w/2-3yo Mdn Spec. All horses have Jan 1st birthdays. If you are looking at a 3-4yo Mdn event. Jan thru May, the older horse is usually stronger. There are some who would question why bet a horse who has yet to win a race.
European born Trainers, Biancone(FR)-Clement-Cassidy(IRE) to name a couple have insight to Turf events. Some others another time

Dan,

Nice call on Shakespeare. This horse looked great winning. I thought this horse would need a couple races after the layoff it had, however it shot down the final furlong like it had a rocket in its ass.

This is a horse I would watch in its next race. Great training job by Mclaughlin. I bet he runs Shakespeare in a grade II for his next race. The odds will be juicy :00hour
