Bobby Holik will miss his 11th consective game tonight and likely won't play on Thursday, according to the New York Daily News. He still is nursing a strained hip flexor.

Jarome Iginla (RW) Cgy
Jarome Iginla didn't practice yesterday to rest a sore hip flexor that has bothered him for about a week, according to the Calgary Sun. He is expected to play tonight.

Robyn Regehr (D) Cgy
Robyn Regehr missed yesterday's practice with what he described as a "hand-area" injury, according to the Calgary Sun. X-rays didn't reveal the exact nature of the injury, although doctors think it is either a damaged ligament or a broken bone. He may not be able to play against the Red Wings tonight.

Alyn McCauley (C) Tor
Alyn McCauley sustained an undisclosed injury on Saturday and may skip tonight's game to rest it, according to the Toronto Sun.

Dainius Zubrus (RW) Was
After spending some time on lower lines, Dainius Zubrus has been moved back to the Caps' top line alongside Robert Lang and Jaromir Jagr, according to the Washington Post.

Alexander Mogilny (RW) Tor
Alexander Mogilny actually sustained a neck injury on Saturday and said he expects to play on Tuesday, according to the Toronto Star.

I read in today's Boston Herald (pg 71) that the Sabres have called up Ryan Miller (G) and he was going to make his NHL debut starting tonight against the Devils. Buffalo is hoping to stop their 11 game winless streak tonight. A loss or tie tonight will tie their franchise worst 12 game winless streak.

11.19 Mikko Eloranta (LW) LA Mikko Eloranta is expected to return from a five-game absence tonight, according to the LA Times. He was out with a sprained left knee.
11.19 Adam Oates (C) Anh Adam Oates worked out yesterday, though he did little shooting or passing, according to the LA Times. He said he is still a week to 10 days away from returning from his broken left hand.
11.19 Fredrik Olausson (D) Anh Fredrik Olausson will be sidelined indefinitely while he tries to get into game shape, according to the LA Times.
11.19 Mike Leclerc (LW) Anh Mike Leclerc will miss about two weeks after tests revealed torn cartilage in his left knee, according to the LA Times. He will have arthroscopic surgery today.
11.19 Alexander Mogilny (RW) Tor Alexander Mogilny said he expects to play tonight despite his neck stinger, but the Maple Leafs won't make a formal decision until later today, according to the Toronto Star.
11.19 Denis Gauthier (D) Cgy The NHL has suspended Denis Gauthier for tonight's game against the Red Wings, according to the Sports Network. Gauthier was given a game misconduct for a low body check on Dallas Drake Saturday.
11.19 Byron Dafoe (G) Bos It appears the wait is nearly over for free agent goalie Byron Dafoe to sign with someone. Both the Thrashers and Rangers made offers yesterday, according to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. The Islanders may also be interested.
11.19 Per-Johan Axelsson (LW) Bos P.J. Axelsson said he hopes only to miss tonight's game due to his sprained knee, according to the Boston Herald.
11.19 Joe Thornton (C) Bos Joe Thornton should play tonight despite missing practices recently to rest a bruised hip, according to the Boston Herald.
11.19 Shaone Morrisonn (D) Bos Defenseman Shaone Morrisonn is expected to make his NHL debut tonight after the Bruins called him up yesterday, according to the Boston Herald. He probably will be up for only a couple of games.

GAME: Buffalo Sabres (3-11-3-0) at New Jersey Devils (10-5-0-0).

TIME: Tuesday, 7:30 p.m. EST.

The Buffalo Sabres will try to avoid tying two franchise records for futility when they visit the New Jersey Devils.

Buffalo has gone 0-9-2 in its last 11 games, one shy of the franchise-record 12-game winless streak set during the 1991-92 season.

The Sabres have also lost six in a row for the first time since a club-record seven-game skid in October 1993. At an NHL-worst 3-11-3, Buffalo is off to its poorest start since its inaugural 1970-71 campaign, when it opened 3-11-2.

Buffalo called up goaltender Ryan Miller from the American Hockey League on Monday, and he will make his NHL debut at New Jersey.

Miller, who passed up his senior year at Michigan State, had an NCAA-record 37 shutouts and won the Hobey Baker Award, given to college hockey's player of the year, in 2001.

Starting goalie Martin Biron is winless in his last seven starts, and backup Mika Noronen is 0-4-1 with a 2.75 goals-against average. Miller had a 3-8-2 record with a 2.49 GAA with the Rochester Americans.

"Obviously, I want to help these guys turn the ship around here and be a prime contributor," Miller said. "I'm just excited to be playing my first game. And if I can be the difference, that would be great."

Buffalo is tied with the Nashville Predators for the fewest goals scored in the league with 36, and has just 25 goals in 15 games since scoring 11 in its first two contests this season.

"We've had years where we haven't made the playoffs, but we've never had a stretch like this," said Buffalo forward Rob Ray, in his 14th season with the club.

The Sabres, whose streak started with a 2-1 home loss to the Devils on Oct.

25, have yet to win a game this season when they allow more than one goal.

New Jersey is also a low-scoring team, amassing just 39 this season, but it has won 10 of its first 15 games because of solid defense and goaltending.

The Devils have allowed an NHL-low 29 goals, and Martin Brodeur is the only goalie in the league to start all of his team's games. He is tied for the most wins in the league with 10, and has a 1.87 GAA.

"Brodeur is probably our best defenseman right now," Devils coach Pat Burns said.

New Jersey is 4-4 in its last eight games after opening the season with a victory in six of its first seven contests.

The Devils have outscored the Sabres 7-2 in winning the last two meetings at Continental Airlines Arena.
