Texas Rep. Ron Paul has won the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) 2012 presidential preference straw poll of 3,742 activists, the chairman of the huge annual gathering of conservative activists announced on Saturday.

The poll, sponsored this year for the first time by The Washington Times, is seen as one of the earliest tests of grassroots popularity among the party?s dominant conservative wing, and Mr. Paul, who ran unsuccessfully for the nomination in 2008, has traditionally done well in the CPAC voting.

The Republican lawmaker, long a favorite of the party?s libertarian wing, took 30 percent of the votes cast, followed by Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney with 23 percent. New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie, who has said he will not be a candidate in 2012, and New Mexico former Gov. Gary Johnson tied for third, with 6 percent of the vote.

Former GOP House Speaker Newt Gingrich followed with 5 percent.

Tied at 4 percent were Minnesota Rep. Michele Bachmann, Indiana Gov. Mitch Daniels and former Minnesota Gov. Tim Pawlenty. Trailing them was former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin, who garnered just 3 percent of the vote.

Asked in the survey if they were generally happy with the field of GOP contenders lining up to challenge President Obama next year, 56 percent of CPAC voters said they were generally satisfied with the current crop of candidates, while 43 percent said they were not

what a group we have here to choose from.

Didnt see Donlad Trump in there.

Ron Paul dont stand a chance in hell of winning the nomination for the GOP party.

So why does he win this poll for the second year in a row ? Is this just the tea party bagger neocons that want what they cant have ?

Why would so many of them like Paul over a possible canidate that could win the nomination.

It just dont make sense to me.

who the fawk are these ppl with limited forethought.

Not a one of these can beat Obama in 2012

thanks for posting the picture, Obama looks good in that cowboy hat.

Loved the way Obama stayed out of invading Egypt. George W and Cheney would have conjured up WMD and gone in there with tanks and stealth bombers.

oh how far we have come.

what the fawk is wrong with Obama ?

Me and Cheney would have invaded Egypt and occupied them for 10 years and spent a trillion for them to have democracy.

Sure wish I was still running things around here.:SIB

Ron Paul is the only acceptable candidate on either side of the aisle IMO.

................................................................

I like him too but he has no chance.

They will squash him like a bug like always.

Just a few racists storys and his background.
\
And a few things thrown in about taking over the Fed and kicking ass in Washingtons status quo is enough to disqualify him.

If Ross Perot would have won back when, we would have been much better off right now.

But even Perot with his millions couldnt pull it off.

I loved Perot in the debates

I am pretty sure this was the debate that George Bush looks at his watch like he has somewhere else to be.

Clinton looks like some kinda of smirky puppet.

And on inclusion, Coulter had this to say, "I am as born-again evangelical Christian as they come? the gay argument is why do conservatives act like our sins are worse then their sins?and no, of course not? I would like gays to be part of conservatism just the way women are without there being a special designation for it, that's what I'd prefer."

"The left is trying to co-opt gays and I don't think we should let them, they should be on our side."

This may be due in no small part to Coulter's affinity for gays with whom she shares "a lot in common." "We like the same music, we like the same cocktails, and we like a lot of the same men."
...............................................................

GOP at cpac were shocked when Ann Coulter made this statement.

do they really not know that she is gay and always has been.

man the wool is pulled down over cpac eyes.

If Ann Coulter can fool them they are just fools.

No 1 posting anything on Egypt???

Every 1 saying bush n Chaney would have gone in w/Bombers etc... Hmmmm Does EVERY 1 UNDERSTAND WHAT THIS MUSLIM BROTHERHOOD TAKEOVER WILL DO? I have so much so say on this but it needs to come when I can spend some time on here but a 12 hr shift ruins me. The Saudis are a great influnce in this and this Muslim brotherhood is something they do NOT want to see.

The closest a 2012er has gotten to talking about Egypt, in Tim Pawlenty's generally well-received CPAC speech just now:

So when the United States of America projects its national security interests here and around the world, we need to do it with strength! We need to make sure that there is no equivocation, no uncertainty, no daylight between us and our allies around the world.

The current administration doesn?t seem to understand this principle. We undermine Israel, the U.K., Poland, the Czech Republic, and Colombia, among other friends. Meanwhile, we appease Iran, Russia, and adversaries in the Middle East, including Hamas and the Muslim Brotherhood.

Mr. President, with bullies, might makes right. Strength -- makes them submit. Get tough on our enemies ? not on our friends. And, Mr. President, stop apologizing for our country.

The bullies, terrorists and tyrants of the world have lots to apologize for. America does not.

The Egypt crisis isn't going to resolve itself soon, and the criticism that the U.S. should -- somehow -- be ensuring that the Brotherhood doesn't join any transition process or new government is likely, I think, to emerge as a major Republican theme.

...................................................................

Pawlenty saying this falls in line with the military
strength and fear that these guys always subscribe to.

Bigger planes, bigger ships, billion spent on defense

we have to support our allys

fawk that

we been taking care of these bitchs for too long

I know i dont like this pawlenty guy now

Typical neoconservative hyperbole.

Breaking News

Tiger Woods stumbled in a bid for his first victory in 15 months Sunday, leaving Alvaro Quiros to win the Dubai Desert Classic with a wild round that included a hole-in-one and triple bogey.

The 70th-ranked Quiros shot a 68 to finish at 11-under 277, one stroke ahead of Anders Hansen of Denmark (70) and James Kingston of South Africa (67).
Woods had a 75 to end tied for 20th at 4-under 284.

There were quite a few positives this week but a couple of glaring examples of what I need to work on," Woods said.

He entered the round one stroke off the lead, but for the second straight day he started with two bogeys in his first three holes. He managed to claw a shot back when his approach on the sixth ended up a few feet from the pin. However, Woods offset two birdies with two bogeys on the back nine and then double bogeyed the 18th.

"All my old feels (for the clubs) are out the window when the winds blow," he said. "That's the thing when you are making change. It's fine when the wind is not blowing. But when you have to hit a shot when the wind blows ... the new swing patterns get exposed."

Woods had trouble for much of the day with errant drives, and his putting - which he credited with helping him shoot a 66 Friday - also was shaky, leading to several missed birdie chances. He also showed flashes of anger, at one point yelling at photographers for disturbing his shot.

Woods, who won in Dubai in 2006 and 2008, is now in the longest victory drought of his career. His last title came at the Australian Masters in November 2009.

/////////////////////////////////////////////////

Tiger is the only golfer alive that reports on the status of what he has to work on.

Yeh well my shots change when the wind blows.

The sun was in my eyes on that one.

My putting sucks and my drives are out of bounds.

Maybe he is being punished.

15 months is a long time to go without winning

Golf is an incredibly mental game. His main problem is his mental status has been damaged - probably to a level he'll never be a dominant winner again. I have no doubt he'll win at a decent clip moving forward, but he's lost a lot.

What's amazing to me is how he played at such an incredibly high level while juggling all his women, while being married, without anyone knowing anything about it. It's just astounding to me.

it really is something else.

It says alot about things when the divorce and taking of his children affect him to this degree and it obviously is.

It is possible he never returns to winning golf play or get close to being number 1

Plus the sponsors dont pay for a # 20 golfer.

Of course he never has to win again ever and he will never have to worry about money.

Maybe he really hurt him to have to give the ex
half of his billion
