Martin Prousek gets his first start of the year tonight for the Sens against NYI. Prousek came in relief for Lalime on Sat. night for the final 2 periods. He allowed 3 goals. Prousek played 1 NHL game last year in which he lost 3-2. He was named the AHL Goalie of the Year after posting a 1.79 GAA, the lowest in the 63 year history of the AHL. After watching him in pre-season this year he did not look good at all. Can't get a read on him for this game tonight.
OUTLOOK: The Sens will be more conscious of their own end with Prousek in nets. You will see the Sens play a very disciplined 2-1-2 system just like in hoops. This will allow the Sens to move the puck up ice more efficiently with Redden out of the line-up. Redden is the best puck carrying defensemen on the team.
INJURIES: Redden and Schatslivy did not make the trip. Neil, Havlat and Bonk made the trip but are listed as day to day. Of the three injured day to day players, I expect only Chris Neil to play which would be his first game of the year after suffering a broken leg in the early pre-season.
Very much leaning to the UNDER as Osgoode is playing much better recently and with the Sens looking after their own end in much more detail this might be the better way to go.
As for the side, Sens always rebound big after a terrible outing like the one they had Sat. night against the Bruins. If I had not been out of town I would have posted a Bruins play. Never did I think the Sens would lose by 6 but they are a terrible team in stretches of 3 in 4 nights.
Back later with my final play or plays on this game.
