Hedge, go down on the wife tonight. If you like the way it tastes, I can make a few suggestions for sushi.

Agree, this thread has so much potential. Warthog, go eat yourself. Wife might like that better.

Try some good quality tuna for ur first raw experience. I also really like red snapper. U might like salmon too. Stay away from the spicy scallop and the mackerel.

You might want to go with some fish-heavy rolls before you roll right into sashimi, since you've started with shrimp/crab. Try a rainbow roll, nice and clean with a good amount of fish. I agree when you jump to sashimi start with tuna. When you work it up to the big boy level and you are at a place where the fish is fresh, try uni with quail egg on top, unbelievably good.

Mackerel is a bit fishy, so may want to avoid at first. Salmon and tuna are good starting points. Albacore, snapper are also favs of.mine. Fatty tuna, or toro, is a must get when available. Uni does not have a beginner's texture, so I would avoid.

Jalapeno Hamachi...the best (if it is served properly with good fish). If you really want to experience the fish, this is what you should get.

Agree with Cie, Uni has a very different texture and would not recommend out of the gate.

On the tuna side, they should have Tuna Tataki which is tuna that is very lightly seared on the edges and served with ponzu sauce.

My personal favorite is eel. If it's fresh it will just melt in your mouth.

you might want to try the more tame stuff @ first like tuna and salmon and such. i would stay away from the real fishy stuff for a while.
