I am upset about deet's awol defense and chauncey not being able to guard DJ, that started the avalanche :cursin:

deet's biggest prob IMHO, is they never acquired a quality 3rd guard, not many teams win championships w/o some impact off the bench with a sub guard--thought Dumars woulda learned that with the microwave

damon jones will not score more than 5 points in the 2nd half. he put up some prayers and made them. its not going to happen anymore. the one shot , i dont know how it cleared tayshauns arm, but it did and went in. that was bull.

the defense was struggling, i dont like the lineups LB is using at certain times. you cant have 3 guards on the floor against miami, i dont care who the guards are.

keys to 2nd half for det

tayshaun needs to be posting up wade and getting some fouls called.

rip hamilton needs to get free and make jumpers

ben wallce doesnt touch the ball on offense unless its a rebound.

mcdyess needs to get free on the baseline and drain a few big ones.

darko needs to get involved more.........lol jk

This is when they need you, the team needs you. :mj07: :mj07: :mj07:

the prob began when DJ used the pick and roll and created easy opps to hoop, that broke down deet's defense early and often and opened up the shaq buffet ... the short layoffs might be backfiring now since deet has no backcourt depth ... seen signs on fatigue on CB and Tayshaun in various games with no help possible from bench ... & arroyo is just a complete ZERO

deet is in all sorts of jeopardy, they simply were over rated by many, me included :(

It really is remarkable how lame he has become. For a few years in Utah, he was really an up and coming star, demonstrating a nice shot and good understanding of the game. He was also tough and played decent D. Then he fell off with the injury and the pouting last year. His performance at the Olympics, however, seemed to indicate the skills were still there and a change of scenery might be all that was necessary. And then he came up with this year? His demise makes no sense, there must be more to it than meets the eye.

i also agree.

he had a good 5 minute stretch against indiana, in 2 games. from there he just stinks. he cant shoot. he can run the point but he gets fancy sometimes and you dont want to be fancy in the ECF. but then again, he may be better on offense than lindsay. that guy is getting up there in years, and has nooooo shot what so ever. he shouldnt be shooting..

Wade is getting everything. Last game he got to line when NO DETROIT player even touched him. Tonight he gets away with blocking foul on Wallace. Refs did not want to give Wade 3 fouls. Worst call tonight had to be where Wade drove to basket, was out of control and ran into defender and turned his whole body around and Hunter was called for foul when Hunter did not even touch him with body or hands. Wade went into Hunter AND Wade tuned his BACK to Hunter. Suns and Heat clearly are getting calls from Refs in these conf. finals. The way the NBA has been officiated, Detroit should get EVERY call in game 6.

Heat played VERY WELL tonight as a team and they look like the hungrier team. I was impressed, especially by the Heat role players. However, if Heat get past Detroit, those role players will have TOUGH time scoring.

Detroit needs to take page out of Spurs defense. Let Wade and Shaq get theres (if they can), worry about and stop everyone else. Many people think Pistons have the #1 defense in NBA but I don't see it. I think it is somewhat skewed because they play in East.

Spurs did it and they did it against the #1 offense in NBA and the #1 team in NBA in season wins.

Pistons need to put major emphasis into stopping Miami role players. Right now Detroit is not shutting down ANY Heat players. That is suppose to be a #1 defense? Give me a break.

scott,

LB rarely doubles shaq, he doesnt believe in it ... as for wade, he's tuff and no one seems to be able to handle him ... EJ and various others are showing up and adding enuff punch; like the spurs you cant guard everyone ....

And the reason Deet cant guard anyone is they are running out of perimeter depth and conditioning--last year they ground up lakers with youth and legs, now its not happening--maybe too long a year for them, everyone psyched playing champs etc etc--but they are running on fumes ...

maybe hunter can play some D but he and arroyo bring absolutely nothing to table on offense, you need some punch off bench from guard position unless you are the Ravens ... fred brown, kerr, cooper, ainge, vinnie, clint richardson etc ... this garbage Dumars acquired is laffable

I agree with LB in not double Shaq, especially when Shaq is not dominating for 4q. Spurs did not double Amare despite him scoring the most pts in NBA playoffs this year. The goal for Spurs was to "try" and stop Amare/Nash with 1 man but if you can't, let them get there pts but STOP the role players. Detroit is doing horrible job shutting down Miami's role players. In fact, Detroit is not really stopping ANYBODY on Miami.

Good point and I think you are right. Maybe lack of motivation after winning title last year. Thinking they can just turn it on when they are in do or die situation. Like game 4, and soon to be game 6.

Pistons still young team so they shouldn't be too tired. Miami def. is hungrier and playing with more passion. Often that alone makes the difference.

Yeah you are right again about Pistons not having an offensive weapon off bench. A guy like Jimmy Jackson (suns) would done wonders for Detroit off bench. Need someone like him. He is one of my favorite players coming off bench. A. Mcdise is only good for a basket or 2 and he is only offensive player Pistons have off bench. Last year they had James at guard.

I think Detroits major flaw is they have no inside game. Ben Wallace is worthless and Rasheed Wallace is average at best post up player. Very few easy baskets down low and way too many outside shots. Much easier to score in paint on consistent basis. Against Miami Detroit has had success cutting/driving to basket but Detroit doesn't do that all game long. Again, often settling for outside jumpers.

Lastly, I can understand Wade or Shaq getting there pts. But Miami role players have been killing the Pistons all series along with Shaq and Wade. That cannot happen. It will be interesting to see if Miami gets past Detroit, how many of these Miami players shooting averages/or %'s go down from Piston series to Spurs series. Including Shaq/Wade.

One more point I want to make. Gregg you keep bashing Kobe and sometimes Lakers team last year vs finals. Praise Shaq and Heat. UNFAIR comparison.

Take KOBE and SHAQ off Lakers, take Wade and Shaq off Heat, the Heat role players will MURDER the Laker role players. I would bet my ACCOUNT on Heat pk vs Lakers. Remember, Malone is BANGED up for Lakers and would play injured couple games and miss few! NO center for Lakers and $hit forwards. $hitty team everywhere! Just shows how great Shaq and Kobe were as Lakers and Shaq was WAY out of shape and Kobe injured. :mj07: :) Enough of comparisons of Shaq and Kobe etc. Not fair comparison in any way you look at it. Lakers are a badly runned organiztion that won with Shaq and Kobe who are/were 2 best players in NBA.

The Pistons are in trouble. Both Shaq and D.Wade had sub-par games and the Heat still won handily. As for the officiating, both Shaq and Wade were on the bench with two fouls in the 1ST QUARTER.

It is now apparent that Shaq is getting physically better. There is a big concern about D.Wade, but he should be o.k. by the 7th game. No pressure on the Heat in game 6, all on Detroit. As for the role players for Miami, the question is where have they been? Damon Jones has been awol until last night and Haslam until two games ago. These guys have been doing it for the Heat all season.

It's all about Shaq. Easy buckets down low and open shots on the perimeter. The Pistons cannot contain him with single coverage. He's due for a good game and then goodnight, Irene.

I agree with Pt. gard that the Pistons look tired. There was talk about Hamilton, though he was working hard last night. Ben Wallace is having a very tough series. Not a good match-up against Shaq, but who is? Detroit is banking on Rasheed Wallace and he imploded last night.

David Stern has his sticky fingers all over this series. Thats all that needs to be said about the officiating.
