Teams you hate and hope they never win another game. First and foremost Indiana University. Second the Reds, comes from beng a Dodger fan during the 70's. Go Boilers, Dodgers, and Bears.

Just got back from the Baltimore Game. Sasaki blew it and he did not look good. Seattle offense is pathetic. However, Camden Yards is a great place to watch a game and the fans there are terrific as are the Esskay Hotdogs, Boardwalk fries and Frozen Lemondade:)

Here are some random thoughts from what I saw (my vantage point)

Chris Snelling is a fat ass
James Baldwin could lose a few pounds. His command was awful tonite.
Rodrigo Lopez can realy bring it and his ball moves all over the place

Mike Cameron's defense is stellar made some real nice catches but is really struggling at the plate

Marty Cordova is cool

Got Paul Abbot's Autograph, Ryan Franklin, Dan Wilson---all were really nice.

Love this topic!

Most hated teams (always subject to change due to coaching/ownership/player changes):

NFL:

Miami Dolphins -- Couldn't stand this team from 1972 onward (played that patsy-ass schedule and went 17-0 with Errol Morral at QB). Don Shula -- the most overrated coach of all time.

Dallas Cowboys -- Love/hate relationship with my own team, adored and loved the team as a kid (praents had season tickets for 15 years) and now with Jerry Jones runing the show I look at the team as a Soviet Bloc country run by a despot.....it's still home for me, but I hate the leadership. It's like being from Serbia...you love the motherland, but despise the criminals in charge. Another issue -- Dallas fans are front-running brats.

NBA:

Los Angeles Lakers -- Love Bryant and respect O'Neal.....also love Jerry Buss (a gambler and serious poker player). What makes this team so repulsive is their lousy bench play (every one of those flakey Mutts would make up the Memphis Grizles team were it not for Bryant and O'neal). Also, the plastic fans who gooble up all the good seats. If you are a working man in LA, forget about getting decent Lakers tickets. I know I'll get into trouble for saying this -- but the move out of Inglewood was a subtle hint of racism -- getting out of a predominantly Black area so the pretty White Malibu and Pasadena crowd wouldn't have to drive so far through South Central.

New York Knicks -- Spike Lee on the front row, 17,000 obnoxious frontrunning fans, backing a team that hasn't done squat in 33 years. Sick of seeing them on TNT every game when 25 teams in the leage are better.

Milwaukee Bucks -- The biggest bunch of quitters in the NBA. Period.

NHL:

New York Rangers -- Knicks arrogance times 10. The team wins one Stanley Cup in 40 years and all three major networks go on a rampage about the Rangers like it was the most imprtant event of the decade.

MLB:

Texas Rangers -- Total quitters. Franchise embarasses itself when it's fortunate enough to make playoffs -- which isn't often. 30 years of misery made worse by the fact they built the stadium out in the middle of nowhere. Baseball is an urban game and when they decided not to build the new ballpark in Dallas, that was the last straw. Alex Rodriquez is going to be the Dan Marino of baseball -- breaking all the records but never will play in the big game.

COLLEGE FOOTBALL:

Notre Dame -- Was raised Catholic and loved this team growing up (relative was a graduate). Then, they decided to sign the exclusive deal with NBC several years ago and shaft the rest of college football. Arrogant team living off it's past glory.

Texas A&M -- Ridiculously underacheiving team that hasn't won a big game in years. Football crazed fans in College Station deserve better. Head coach RC Slocum is arguably the dumbest man on the planet (which is really saying something with Mack Brown with the Longhorns and George W in the White House).

Now fire away.

Jack:

I still blame Shula for not having his team ready in the 1969 Super Bowl. He had one of the most talented teams of all time (the 1968 Colts were an awesome team), and yet lost by 9 as a 16 point favorite to the Jets. He embarassed the NFL. Reminds me of what Martz just did in the last Super Bowl....a team loaded with talent that can't score and seemed to sleepwalk through the game.

So, I'm admittedly harsh on Shula for tanking the biggest game of all-time.

Second, I never thought the 1972 Dolphins were even close to the 1978 Steelers, 1989 49ers, 1968 Colts, 1962 Packers, or 1985 Bears. Man for man, I think all of those other teams were better (not necessarily Shula's fault, of course).

Shula failed to produce another Super Bowl win after 1973 (two Super Bowls in 30 years of coaching) -- so he essnetially made it to the big dance with the same squad (1971, 72, and 73 were essentially the same personel).

By contrast, Tom Landry took three different teams to the NFL championship game -- the 66 and 67 Cowboys, the 1972 Super Bowl winners, and the 1977 team (all different personnel). he also went to the NFC championship game three consecutive years in the early 80s...so that's a fourth team he took close to the top.

If Shula was an innovator, I certainly am not aware of it. Unlike Landry (flex defense and offensive schemes), Paul Brown (perhaps the greatest football mind of all time), Bill Walsh (great offensive innovator), Vince Lombardi (the seeep and a master motivator) and others, I don't recall Don Shula being particularly noted for any strategy that had a lasting impact. Oh, he did have Dan Marino, though.

Shula won all those games because of one thing -- longivity.

I am not saying he was a bad coach, or even mediocre. He was clearly a very good coach and deserves being int he hall of fame. But, I don't think he belongs int he same category as the other great coaches, who took multiple teams to championships against the odds, and revolutionized pro football with new schemes and strategies.

Your rebuttle is welcome.
