I went for my 6 months follow up PET scan and the results came back showing definite activity (they also call it something else) indicating recurrent tongue cancer in the same local area of my first tumor. To say the least we were devastated.
After countless trips to all my doctors, we did get a little hope as none of them could feel or see anything in that area, plus we found out through a couple sources including my main doctor that PET scans can be very unreliable in cases like this. Oh great why did they do it then, but anyway they ordered an emergency MRI which is much more reliable.
After waiting 2 days (which was no picnic) for the results as they wanted to be certain I have been declared clear and clean.
I just wanted to share this as it has been such a roller coaster ride for myself and my family and friends and the relief I feel right now makes me want to shout to the whole world and especially to all my friends here at MadJacks that I'm OK.
