On the course!
So, I buy a used car a couple weeks back. (Nice looking 2002 LeSabre)

Find out a couple days after I have it, the rear driver side window won't go down from back there. (Works fine from master control)

Take it back to the shop, and they want me to pay the $50 deductable on the 2000 mile warranty! I said, "This thing obviously left the shop like this!

Well, the guy who sold me the car says, "That ain't right", and says he'll talk to the service manager, just go ahead and let them fix it. Well, I also tell these boneheads about a "rubbing" and "growl" in the steering when I make slow turns. The service guru tells me, "We can look at that, but it will cost $35 to road test that, to find the trouble, etc"

I almost went through the fukking roof! Again, I said, "I just bought this car less than two stinking weeks ago! These are pre-existing issues!

This mope shrugs, and I tell him, "just check the car, would ya?"

They come back with the,"We can't find anything wrong" routine. I told him to get his monkey out here, and put his ass in the car with me.

We went for a drive, and wne I heard the noise, I said, "You telling me you can't hear and feel that?"

He say, "Oh, yeah....." Back to the garage we go.

After another fifteen minutes, they come back with no answer. The best they can tell me is:

"We can start with a recommended power steering flush, and GM's special winterizing formula.....that goes about $120. Other than that, the problem might be in the gear box."

I almost decked the fukker!

I said, "And you would expect me to pay for this? Something that should have been done before this car was put out on the lot?"

"Well, we didn't know about this, sir."

"No, but I'm pointing it out to you!!!"

Another shoulder shrug from puppet boy.

Now, he also tells me that the manager has vetoed the salesman's agreement with me, that the window should be covered! I will be responsible for the $50 deductible for the repair!

But hey! "We do have the part in stock, and they can get that in right away."

I said, "No.....Gimmie back my car."

"You don't want the window fixed?"

"And give you guys 50 more dollars?"

So, this kook shakes his fukking head! (I still think I shoulda popped him!)

Then, when they are done, he hands me the bill for $36.49 for the "steering issue"!

I paid that to get out of there, but I am not done with those bums.

-----------------------------------------------

Now, to top this off, I come home and do a "search" for steering issues with that model car, and lo and behold, the exact problem I describe pops up as a recall!

I just wrote tp GM to find out if my car was ever serviced for the problem, but how these coksuckers could not know about that, is beyond me! They are the leading GM dealership in this area, for Christ's sake! :nono:

How do people like this stay in business?

Upstairs watching sports on the big TV.
And the moral of the story is....

And the moral of the story is....

Buy a Japanese car, drive it for 200,000 miles, just change oil and filters regularly.....that is prety much all it will need...

American cars with few exceptions; have pretty much been chit for decades.

One thing the Jap cars have done is forced GM and Ford to strive for quality and reliability...sounds like in your case they failed miserably.

Perhaps a good talk with lot owner may help your cause, I drive past a parked Chrysler mini-van daily that has soaped on the window...."I bought this POS from Joe Blow auto, do not make same mistake"

GM makes a fine product, DM.

The 3.8 is still one of the better engines out there, and will get you your 30mpg if you take care of the car. This is about service, more than quality.

so, u bought a warranty, and they don't want to honor it??

No......the "warranty" is a $50 deductable. They would have gladly fixed the window, and only charged me $50.

My point was, I noticed the problem the day after I bought the car!

It should be obvious that I didn't break the window, it was rather an oversight on my part for not hopping in the back seat, and trying the window. They wanna say, "Though shit.....buyer beware!"

I'm saying, "Poor business practice." If I spotted it a day earlier, they would have repaired it before I bought it!

The point of the thread is to show that the dealership is screwing him over.

It is ridiculous how many mechanics pull this shit with people.

**** this I would go straight to corporate and write them a letter about this. Total bullshit. This should have been fixed before you bought the car.

Sorry for the troubles, hope it works out for you.

ohh, I understand the "deductible" now. Does seem rather fishy that all these problems should crop up so soon.

Wife bought a used Honda a few years ago along with the warranty. I was kinda pissed that she bought it, but it has paid for itself almost quadruple already (brand new tranny, new automatic door, and some small things). Terrific service, almost too good to be true.

I think you should call the owner. If you can't get him, leave him a detailed message with your phone number. Might be suprised the response you get. GL!

Reread your original post.

So, no Honda, Toyota, et al, has a window switch go sour? Has a part go bad? Interesting. I guess all the bitch threads I see all over the web must be set up by GM and Ford?

I'll still stack the comfort level of a Buick LeSabre or Park Avenue up against any of the rice grinders I've been in for that kind of money, and the overall problems I've experienced have been nominal.

not to call you a dipstick, but the window and the growling steering should have been found out by you on a test drive... before .... you buy it.

Geezz Louise.

Buyer beware.

You should have probably noticed them be4 buying but WTF?

It never ceases to amaze me the way people treat their customers. I mean here they have a chance for a nominal amount to take care of a problem for you and likely get repeat business from you in the future. Just shows the way this world goes....BS if you ask me. I wouldn't have paid the $30.00 either, F uck them.

As for the comfort of a Buick, I couldn't agree more, I drive a Riviera, and it is THE most comfortable car I have ever been in.

(Supercharged!!)

With the exceptoin of a new radiator at 110,000 miles, I have never had a problem with this car.

Send them a bill for $50 because you had to take the mechanic for a ride in order for him to hear the problem. He couldnt hear it himself without you there.

Yes, I will agree........I should have taken my ass into the back seat, and checked the windows. By that measure, I should have stood outside the car while someone tapped the brakes, used the directional, etc........you don't do it!

There is a certain element of expectation when you purchase something! I didn't chack the oil to make sure that was changed, either........I took their word for it!

As for the "test drive"? No......I didn't notice the issue with the turning at that point. It is fairly subtle until you have it happen over, and over, and over..........then you begin to notice it's there.

Also, it's intermtant. It happens in clusters. Might not have even happend on the test drive.

Just maybe it did start happening a couple days after I bought it? Wouldn't that be odd? That doesn't deflect from my point:

If there was a recall on a steering issue with this model, wouldn't these turds know about that, being a leading GM dealer in the state? That being said, wouldn't you at least think about checking that as a possible problem?????? I mean, this is a fairly popular model of car! I'm sure they have sold and serviced a few!

I had a Buick Riviera for four years and it was the smoothest riding, highest comfort car, with 3.8 L super charged engine but still gets 27 mph on the road. Awesome car, do not knock the Buicks! This sounds like another example of the car business and why a bad few dealerships leaves a taste in your mouth like going to the dentist, no offense to dentists:mj07:

Agent, my buddies used to call my Riviera the "Pimpmobile" and since I no longer have the car, will gladly give you usage of the name :142smilie

Informative thread- It accomplished two things. A nice vent and a wake up call. Now if I were to buy a used car, I would stand behind the car and do all the things You don't do. . Would ask for in writing, a 10 guarantee bumper to bumper. Not a warrantee and take to AAA or someone to do a thorough check. Most California dealers wouldn't do that to you. I'll bet if you wrote the Dept. of Consumer Affairs in your State, the dealer would gladly fix your problem.

Same here!

LMAO

That car has it all...style, class, comfort, power (lots), elegance, great sounding stereo, luxury, heated seats, all controls on the wheel for extreme ease, sun roof, lots of trunk space for golf clubs.

I mean WTF, you CAN'T beat it! I keep thinking I need a new car every year but can't bring myself to turn it in. Hell, it still looks pretty dam good when it's shined up.
