Just recently got home from the WPT finals. What an experience. I highly recommend anyone of you who seriously plays poker to get out there sometime if you can. I was fortunate enough to finish in the money. They payed top 100 out of 452. Got to play with Ted Forrest, Tito Leonidas, Barny Boatman on day 1. Day 2 brought me Men the Master, Phil Gordon, Chua Ghiang, Hassan Habib, Johan Storakers. Day 3 was Victor Ramdin, Maureen Feduniak and several Europeans i recognized but can't think of the names off the top of my head. All the big guns were there. Great atmosphere and hospitality. They are down to the final 6 now. I played at the same table with 2 of them, maybe thats why they got a lot of money. lol

Congrats..But I have to ask....what made you bust out? If you had to do it over again would you have played differently???

Just woundering because I usually play tight until the final 3 and then open up, Yes I know that what I play is nothing compared to the WTP.

I played in a $1,000 buy in at a casino in Shreveport, LA and got first out of 104. First got $25,000 cash, and a $25,000 buy in to the WPT, and air fare and room paid for. WPT had it set up well, you started with $50,000 in chips and the blinds at 50/100. Each round lasted 90 minutes so you definitely had time to play. I was doing great in the top 30 or so when i took a big hit. I had AA, flop came Q 8 4 rainbow. Guy went all in and i called, he showed KQ which i thought he had that or AQ so i was in great shape. Turn was rag, and you guessed it Q on river. Did a lot of damage to my stack. There was 120 or so left at that time. Once it got down to 101 i was one of about 10 shortstacks. Everyone was waiting for one of the others to make a mistake. 51-100 received $30,000 so it would have definitely sucked to go out 101. it took 1 hour to go from 101 to 100. but once it hit 100 all the short stacks had to go all in quickly to have a shot. I picked up 44 and got called with A8 of hearts, he got the flush. It is just amazing how one hand, the AA could have won millions of dollars. lol I can't complain, i had so much fun, made money, and bluffed out some pros. I am fairly tight as well, but you have to change your game dramatically when the blinds get real high and antes atart kicking in. Thats when i noticed the pros buying lots of pots. When i went bust blinds were $4,000/8,000 with 1,000 ante, so there was a lot of money to be had if you could buy the pot. Also, you got to see a few flops first day or so, after that you better not even think of limping in early position unless you are ready to call a raise. There wasn't a flop seen on my table the third day until an hour into playing. lol
