Huge info to dwell on...

In the last 7 world series the yankees were down 3-2 they only won 2 of them...1958 was the last time and in case your interested 1952 was the other.

My play will come Saturday as I watch all the $$$ flow in on NYY.

that stat looks nice, but how many of those world series situations were in the jeter-era? really a trivial stat as it doesnt apply to anything involving these players.

if i were you, id sit back and watch the game as a fan and root for your marlins to find a way to win one of these.

to me, theres a sh1tload of value in new york to win the world series at +125.

you eliminate the juice on pettite in game 6, and then would have a shot to scalp some money back in game 7 or just let it ride on the yanks to win game 7, which is very likely.

GMAN : Sorry but I don't agree with you one bit ! You sound just like all the Giants bettors and all the Cubs bettors WHICH NONE OF THEM BELIEVED ! This team is destined to win the world series this year.period. A manager who was sitting on his couch playing with his grandkids when he gets the call to manage. Mckeon is the oldest manager to take a team to the WS. Last time he coached he won manager of the year and was fired. It's a story to be glorified. This scrappy Marlins team with a 20 year old rookie star and left fielder who played on the 1997 WS team and came back in september to make the run. This team will win the world series so go ahead and waste your $$$ it's not mine. Best of Luck to you. MARLINS WILL BE WORLD CHAMPIONS IN 2003.

Yes my bias thoughts exactly. This is a team on a mission. They have the look, the swagger, of a championship team, in the Marlins locker room there is no doubt in anyones mind that they are the best team in the league. They fully expect to win.

What an amazing season, from going to games in April and May and there would be like 3,000 fans to last night with 65,000 (mostly marlins fans too!!!!)

I mean after '97 the fans and the city had good reason to abadon the team and be bitter. But look how the fans and the town have embraced this team. Baseball is back in South Florida.

Following this team and watching the town rally around it has been a great expirence and one of the most amazing stories in sports history!!!!!!!!!

+170 is a friggin insult in Game 6. I'll be down on it and watch my squad raise the World Series Trophy in the house that Ruth built.

JUST ONE MORE WIN BABY!!!!!!!!!!

First of all, Gman is right, that stat means absolutely nothing. Those teams have no relationship to this series. Come on.

Second, while the Marlins have put themsleves in a great spot, this series is far from over. Closing out the Spankees with that now imploding bullpen is going to be VERY DIFFICULT on the road. Urbina came in last night and had 2 balls ripped off him, the first one would have been in the seats at Yankee stadium. Confidence is a big thing, and trust me, their bullpen has none.

Third, with the above point being said, I have no idea what Jack is doing starting Beckett in game 6. Beckett is no super human, and everyone knows the stats of pitchers on 3 days rest in the playoffs. Not good at all. How deep can he take them? Probably not more than 6 or 7 innings. That means they get jolly time off of Urbina/Looper/Fox/Whoever. If they lose Game 6, then they have Pavano, who has not been good on the road this year, for Game 7 at Yankee Stadium. The Spankees will be huge favorites in that spot. I have no idea why McKeon does not use Beckett in game 7 and "staff it" in Game 6. His best chance to win the World Series is with a rested Beckett on the mound.

Fourth, rah-rah destiny talk will never convince anyone of anything.

Too much money in gate receipts and broadcast $$$ at stake here not to have this go to 7 games.

Plus it's going to be cold.

Before someone accuses me of saying that bases is fixed; I'm not. I'm just saying that the deck can be subtly stacked in the Yanks favor, like putting Tim Welke BHP.

In the 34 games Welke was BHP in 2003, home teams won 25 or 73.5%. This ranked him #6 of 84 umps or number two in this stat of those with more than 11 games.

sorry....cant throw money on a team based on them "being destined to win"

if there was destiny- cubs would have won the nlcs and then won the world series.

cubs made for a much more compelling story than florida this year.

marlins have already won a world series and theyve been in the league for ten years.

cubs havent won one in damn near a century.

you tell me where "destiny" would have better applied.

about the team with the 20 year old rookie star (your reference to beckett)......well, as i did before this series, let me take you back to 1997....cleveland indians had their own 20 year old rookie star in jaret wright...he beat the yankees in the alds and became the indians darling ace...indians hadnt won a world series since 1948 or whatever....the precocious wright was the story of the world series....the indians were FINALLY gonna win a world series.....they were DESTINED to win it and make for a great story.

and then they lost.
and they lost to a team with a jacked up payroll.
and we know who that team was.

sorry, i dont buy "destiny" as a viable handicapping tool.

im sure if the marlins win either of these games, you will be back in full force, (or should i say FULL CAPS AND INCREASED FONT SIZE) saying how you and the marlins got no respect and how the dolphins get no respect and how the hurricanes get no respect and how the florida panthers get no respect
:D

like i said, at very worst, theres a lot of value still for the yanks in the series in my opinion with the possibility of hedging back on florida for game 7 if necessary. to me, theres a lot of baseball left to be played, especially if floridas bullpen continues to perform they way they have.

enjoy the weekend.

Ok boys, yes beckett is throwing game 6 and if the yankees happen to win sat nite they will win the series, no doubt about it. The yankees will be at home with the dh, not like when the marlins played the giants and cubs. if the yankees can get to the pen early they should have no problem in game 6. andy pettite lives for this situations and giambi and soriano will be ready to roll. you will see a different team sat nite in ny. patience is the yankees key to success and you will see that. just got off the phone with my buddy frank torre jr and we were talking about tommorrows game. joe torre seems to like the matchup with pettite and beckett and he doesnt care who the marlins will throw game 7. the moose will get the job done with clemens behind him. wells said he can give them 1 ininning if they need it and the bronx will be wild this weekend. this will be like nothing the marlins have ever seen.
now i am not saying the yankees are going to steamroll these two games but by no means is this a walk in the park for the marlins. i also noticed all the guys who are all over the marlins are from florida no wonder you guys love them so much.
no disrespect intended guys but this game is just better to watch and not bet on.
remember the marlins were down 3-1 to the cubs and they came back, no reason the yankees can t do that.

enjoy the game guys and LETS GO YANKEES!!!!

dont get me started on jaret wright. simply because its so disappointing as an indians fan to finally have an opportunity to have a dominant #1 starter after years of having no pitching.... only to have him have shoulder problems that eventually led to him going from potentially dominant AL starter to now a journeyman trying to revive his career.

long story short, after that '97 season he started having shoulder problems. he tried to pitch through it but was really struggling trying to do it. lots of surgeries and time on the disabled list from 1998-2001.

i dont know exactly which year (maybe 2 or 3 years ago) he came back from a surgery and rehab and looked like the pitcher of old. hitting 96-97-98 again, but couldnt maintain it consistently (control problems, flare ups, etc.)

indians didnt resign him when his contract option year came. too much of a risk obviously.

he pitched out of the bullpen for san diego this year and had his moments, and then some real clunkers.

atlanta ended up picking him up for the postseason and now he is a middle reliever for the braves.

thats really good to see, because he'll be able to work with mazzone and all those good pitchers and coaches. i could be mistaken, but i believe he pitched extremely well for atlanta the few times he got the ball this postseason- striking out the side in one of those innings.

all in all, ive always been a fan of his and im pulling for the kid. he deserves some good breaks, and if hes healthy, he could really help atlanta.

indians now have sabathia as their frontline #1. but no doubt in my mind that if wright was healthy, he would have been a much more dominant #1 than sabathia. just wasnt to be i guess.

but for that '97 postseason, wright was pretty friggin good, and the resemblance to beckett is eerie. both guys throw hard, are real aggressive, and are confident, yet cocky at the same time in a good way.

as a neutral observer of this game, i think its almost as funny as watching a guy from miami bet his home team every time they take the diamond, and his nfl team every time theyre on the gridiron :D

enjoy the game. should be a good one.
