Sitting in Vegas airport now bummed our boy Matt giannetti didn't make it. He felt like he played some of his best poker, cards ultimately just didn't fall his way. Sat on his rail for about the 2nd half of the day so that experience was awesome. There were a bunch of pros sitting in the first row on his rail checking hands when they got published online to help with his reads. He got some great props from Helmuth who came up to us after and chatted while we hanging with friends and family and taking pictures with Matt.

Lamb is a great player and we were all hoping he was going to get knocked out earlier when he had q9. The way he has been drawing at the final table it might be his year. I couldn't see hole cards but he did have his tournament at stake twice as a dog preflop of 70/30.

Matt was obviously disappointed to not be able to take the title, but he walked away with no regrets because he thought he played his best. Only mistake he thought he made late was not pushing with kq (not sure what hand he was taking about because couldn't see his cards). I want to congratulate him again, making it that far was no small feat.

I think if Ben keeps running good he will be our 2011 champ

He recently won a WPT event in Europe, I believe. I wouldn't feel too bad for him.

He should pay cash for a house with some land, wisely invest a shit pile of other money and forget about poker for awhile. So many of those guys give it all back. Called GREED.

There IS luck involved for these guys that have been hugely successful and that luck and those cards don't fall like that forever.

This sounds like Dennis Phillips. Never seen him deep in a tournament other than the FT at the WS. But I have seen him getting crushed on High Stakes Poker several times. Jamie Gold fits the same description. Whatever happened to the big burly dude that placed second 2 or 3 years back.... forget the name?

The big guy from Maryland? He is a logger. He got back to rural western Maryland, bought a new pickup, bought acres and acres of land, built a new little league field for the community, and went back to work in his logging business. The only reason he played in the WSOP was because he won a seat. That dude didn't let any of the shit go to his head.
