thanks for the link ghost kid.

garcia got a draw in canada, the opponent's hometown. home cooking?

youre right zerwas, the man has been on a real bad streak as of late. the write-up for medina was concivincing and i followed it knowing little of either guy, assuming the line would move in my favour like his plays usually do, and not realizing it was just 1 hour away. then i went to boxrec and fightwriter and read graham's write-up, and was like "oh f*ck!" i scrambled desperately to buy some back, naaah too late! the fight started, and 2 rounds later it was over and i lost big.

i took ruiz as soon as the pick was released, going to do some research into it, hopefully the line moves in my favor.

after the nwodo fight, i made lengthy post about randomness and chance as the most determinant factor in betting, and life in general. it was deep and bleak, i opted to erase it. after 3 rounds the nwodo play looked like genius, after the 4th suddenly godfrey backers were sharps. i think we overestimate our ability to predict the outcomes, considering the most important factors are physiological state of the athlete including their mood, their personal lives, and random minor factors like temperature, unexpected physiological changes such as anxiety or fatigue, brief lapses in concentration, sweat, etc.

the point was that we really cnat judge someone on their ability to predict things out of their control. like king yao said in his book, the outcome of the north carolina-georgetown game had nothing to do with who wanted it more, or who was better prepared. james worthy was out of position defensively, and Brown passed the ball to the position where worthy shouldn't have been, and that won the game. people who picked georgetown were squares, while people who picked NC were sharps. in truth, nobody predicted it, it was sheer chance.

@night janitor
Randomness and chance...yes, well, I think there is some truth to it. Thats why I play so many underdogs actually...Barrera and Boswell kind of saved me...

BTW, whats up with pinny!?
They used to allow several plays on a fight, now, they have limited the amount to 50 $ and you cant make another play even if the line has changed...

"Medina went down in the first round without throwing a single telling punch and without taking a particularly damaging blow... A couple of glancing blows sent him to the canvas again and he was intelligent enough to stay there until the referee did the appropriate thing. "

well thats just super. maybe if he showed up to fight, or didn't agree to take a dive, he'd have a shot of winning or going the rounds. by this description it sounds like he had given up long before the opening bell. ridiculous.

that's a good example of what i mean by randomness: by examining medina's career, absolutely noone would predict he would give up in the first round without even getting hit. the outcome was determined by medina's mental (wanted a paycheck) or physical state (injury), something noone but very close associates of medina could have predicted.

it's true zerwas, pinnacle usually has the best lines and has been the ebst for me in customer service and withdrawals, but the limits are terrible and near inexplicable. the limit does get higher as the fight nears, but we're still talking 100-200 range for small fights.

Hey Fella's,

I was looking for another British book since Stan James lowered my limits from $5,000 to $100.

I joined Skybet. They have some odds that are way out of wack compared to the other sportsbooks.
As of yesterday, they had Calderon at -162 and you could bet 1620 POUNDS. This works out to be around $3,500.
They still have Guzman at -188 and Guzman ITD for +900!!

They also have DLH Pac odds up. DLH works out to around -250.

I don't think they accept American's but that should not matter to guys who use Pinnacle.

They are owned by Sky TV so I don't see them closing any time soon.

Just a heads up.

for those still wondering

Junior featherweight Jeffrey Mathebula (22-1-2, 12 KOs) scored a unanimous 12 round points decision over the rugged Julio Zarate (26-5-1, 16 KOs) of Mexico in an IBF 122lb title eliminator. Scores were 117-109 twice and 118-109 all in favor of the South African, who now qualifies to meet the champion Steve Molitor of Canada.

good luck to everybody today

gardenweasel, what country are you in?

im in canada, one rep said they wont accept visa/debit withdrawals or mail cheques, rather only bank wires, which are expensive and time-consuming.

have you withdrawn yet?

my bad, so thanks to weepaul for the heads-up on skybet.

if i remember correctly you are in canada as well weepaul, have you been able to withdraw from stan james or skybet using canadian credit cards? or at least, with minimal hassle via bank transfer?

Guzman ITD +900 is crazy, I took him +500 and thought it was good. At some point a book will open up a "not Guzman ITD" probably around -600.

I did bank transfers withdrawals with Stan James and had no Hassles.
They are a good book until you win too much and then they reduce your limits to penny's.

I only joined Skybets yesterday, so I don't know about withdrawals yet.
Hopefully I will find out AFTER the Guzman fight.

I don't see it being a problem. They are owned by sky TV which is huge in Europe.

I reside in Canada, just like you.

Good luck, Weepaul.

Thanks for the insight Weepaul, im going to look into both myself. Ive never been a fan of bank wires, Instadebit and Visa are my preferences, but if the lines are that good it's worth getting used to.

Im also hoping Guzman gives us big withdrawal considerations. lol.

You can use Instadebit with Stan James. I withdrew $7,000 at a time and had the money within a few days using instadebit.

Keep in mind, they WILL reduce your limits if you win a lot.

I used the check method as well, got it in 4 days, in the past it has taken a little longer, but never more than 2 weeks

What was the time, approx, it took the check to come?

A long ass time. They didn't have a processor for a while though so they had no way to pay. The expected times for checks are 3-5 weeks. I just asked for another check, I'll see how long this 1 takes.
