LA under 5 -120
Dallas -.5 -145
NJ -.5 -165

Smaller plays:
Dallas under 5 -130
Phil under 5.5 -125

Last 14 games, LA has gone under 5 9 times, landed on 5 3 times, and gone over 5 twice. Phoenix is 2-4-4 versus a total of 5 the last 10 games. Should be a very tight checking game tonight in this huge matchup. From the Phoenix paper:

"We have to play closer to the way we played in Dallas," coach Bob Francis said, referring to the Coyotes' 1-1 tie on Friday. "We have to keep it simple, keep the chances-against down and keep the shots down. We're not going to get into this run-and-gun type of hockey. We have to go in with the mentality and mind-set that it's going to be a 1-0, 2-1 type of game."

All-Star defenseman Teppo Numminen will be back in the lineup after missing two games with a sore hip flexor, but the Coyotes were still uncertain about the availability of center Michal Handzus (abdomen) and wings Landon Wilson (calf strain) and Mike Johnson (shoulder).

Stars -.5 -145

McLennan should be in goal tonight; he's lost his last 6. Minnesota is 2-11 playing w/o rest (but did win the last time in this situation). Dallas is 6-6-1 w/o rest. Turco in goal; he's just 2-4 his last 6.

Dallas has been playing well; even on the road trip to NW Canada in which Dallas lost to Edm, Calg, and Vanc in succession, Hitch thought the team was playing really well. Dallas has lost twice to the Wild, but generally has cleaned up on the lower-level teams, going 23-8-0 against teams ranked 17-30 in the league.

Lean to under despite McLennan; of Turco's last 11 games, none has gone over 5 -- 8 have gone under 5 and 3 have pushed on 5. Dallas D is looking solid; should shut down. Problem is that Dallas could score 4 or 5, but stats point to under. Dallas as a road favorite has averaged a 4.62 total; Minn as home dog has averaged 4.60 total. Minn w/o rest averages a 3.91 total (losing by an average of 2.61 to 1.30); Dallas w/o rest averages 5.28 total.

Phil under 5.5 --

Cechmanek playing great; injuries to Philly forwards slow the offense; Desjardins back in the lineup.
