still taking the "pick and choose spots" approach with mlb plays the last few weeks. havent played all that many plays but still fortunate enough to do well in a wild 2nd half of the mlb season. lots of strange games it seems. anwyays, played this one for tonight, and pretty strong:

3 units......detroit (+150) over anaheim

i really expect bonderman to pitch very well tonight against a depleted anaheim lineup. the halos got to him last sunday in anaheim but this kid's stuff is good enough to dominate and i think he'll make the right adjustments.

also, its worth noting that bonderman -- even though his overall record is rough on the eyes -- has pitched very well at home recently, which is typical of a 21 yr old. he's been shaky on the road but seems to have a comfort level at comerica. he's given up just 4 earned runs in his last 19 and 1/3 innings at home. and he's striking out guys with much greater frequency at home as opposed to the road. hitters also hitting 55 points less against him at home.

all in all, i just think this is a real good spot for bonderman to continue his mini-streak at home where he's won his last three. the price is definitely worth it imo. of course im sure some madjackers wouldnt back the tigers even with monopoly money, but they do appear to be a solid dog tonight that should cash.

gsp:

good stuff. thanks for the info. ive started to value umpire info a lot more than i used to. its definitely useful stuff. glad it supports my play.

i dont know why, but i really like the tigers tonight, lol. might be insanity, but all signs point to a detroit win imo. thx again

You may be right, but Detroit is winning less than one game in four. Anaheim's best pitcher going tonight. Anything less that Detroit +250 in this situation is just not gonna happen for me. Good luck, and no matter what happens, thanks to you and gsp for the great info.:)

in regards to your post, i've been now doin 1/2 unit plays against the Tigers for two days now as i expect them to win one soon.

hopefully they'll get the win out of the way and i can continue my dominance of them again without worrying about when their streak is gonna end.

thunder:

re: his "stuff". his slider is nasty. he brings a mid 90's fastball. and he pitches very aggressively. he needs a 3rd pitch, but hell, he's 20 years old. not many pitchers (save for mark prior) come into the league polished and in control of 3 "plus" pitches. he's definitely got a plus slider and a plus fastball. needs a better changeup, which will come with time.

the only thing that bothers me about him is he has a tendency to walk people. its weird. his walks come in bunches. he isnt consistent with his control. he'll have a start where he goes deep into the game and walk nobody and then another start, he'll walk 4 or 5 guys in 4 or 5 innings.

its worth noting that the kid is getting thrown into the fire on the worst team in baseball after completely skipping AA and AAA ball. jmo, but hes going to be a real good one in time- even if it is on the worst team in baseball. im not making him out to be prior or zito who are precocious pitchers in their own right, but he is going to be very good.

jmo, but theres a reason he's still pitching in the majors right now even with a 6-16 record. the tigers could be having him pitch for AAA toledo but i think theyre making the right move by letting him learn on the fly. counter arguement to that would be "well the tigers are nowhere near contention and have nothing to lose anyways". which is true, but the tigers must be pleased enough to keep a 20 yr old kid losing double digit games in the rotation.

jmo. certainly respect your viewpoint

that fastball may be fast but it woud help if he could get it over the plate- and because of his weak arm by the 4th to 5th his slider does not cut. he is a minor league pitchers for most clubs but this is detroit. i just do not see him dominating any line-up accept maybe the dodgers who at times make poor pitchers look like warren spawn.

although tonight, he is getting lit up fourth of july style. so my argument certainly loses some thunder, lol.

not thrilled about losing 3 units. thought he'd throw better. instead i threw money away.

nonetheless, still feel like he's gonna be a real good one.

you are right but he should be getting good in the minors with a real pitching coach. this maybe the worst pitching staff from top to bottom i have seen in a long time- your game is not over yet- i was just making conversation.

i know what you mean about learning from a good pitching coach at the AAA level. certainly couldnt hurt. its kinda strange. in the era of free agency, youd think a low-budget team like detroit wouldnt want to bring him up until hes totally ready because his major league service clock starts ticking and hes that much closer to being a free agent.

i can only speak about what ive seen. maybe youve seen his less than stellar starts (and hes had his share)

but with the tigers playing the indians so many times, ive gotten a few chances to see him in person and i was impressed.

i think hes going to be a better pitcher than jeff weaver was for detroit- and weaver was pretty solid as detroits ace when he was there (an aside: what the hell happened to weaver? his mediocrity in new york is inexplicable. you want to talk about another pitcher with filthy stuff, his is nasty. but he obviously is much better suited for a place other than new york.)

dont worry im not one of those overly pessimistic guys who throw in the towel on every play they make if their team ever trails, nor am i one to call a game a loss until it is final..

having said that, even if the tigers DO come back, it wont be because i capped the game right and thats why im pissed.

i expected much better from bonderman tonight.

sure a comeback win would be nice, but that doesnt mean i capped the game right. bonderman had his moments, but overall a real sh1tty outing for him
