Northern +8 1/2

Football (101) MOTIVATION!

This is a HUGE game for The Huskies. One of their teammates was tragically killed when a porch collapsed at a summer party. They have made his locker a shrine. They are dedicating this game for him. Also, this game is the Huskies superbowl! They are playing at night and will be fired up. Thier running back Michael Turner is a Heisman Candidate. He rushed for 1,915 yards last year.

Now for Maryland. They are playing a MAC team. NO motivation. They have injuries to key players. THEY PLAY FLORIDA STATE NEXT SATURDAY!

Last but not least all the "Wise Guys" are on Maryland.

Good Luck
Mr. Lock

ps. Take some "chump change" and take the Huskies on the money-line.

I am leaning towards N. Ill too, but the only thing that concerns me is they only return 2 OL, any one have any idea how thier line has been doing in practice so far? Maryland is banged up, and Fla St is on deck, they should be looking ahead.

Anytime you can get pts. when a MAC team is playing a big conf. and they are on home turf(sort of for this game) then you have to take them. They will treat this as their Super Bowl, besides when it comes time for recruiting they want to be able to say they played with the big boys and either won or kept it close. Just a thought.

I agree with everything being said here,

PLUS having a rusher who rushed for 1900+ yds and didnt even play in all the games last year, wont HURT!

Playing devils advocate. If you check history, it looks like Maryland does not let up in the game prior to Florida State. Might want to tread lightly. JMHO

Mr Lock,
where did you find that wager breakdown on maryland vs. n. Ill?
thats interesting. Was wondering where you found it.
thx
Im assuming with that many wagers it wasnt an informal poll that you took.

Out of respect for Mad Jacks, I won't release where I obtained the breakdown.

Update: 2:50 P.M Eastern Time:

Consensus Maryland 326 Northern Illinois 126

one thing i find interesting

one thing i find interesting

seems high % of posters on boards are on Nill, the line was 7.5-8 now Im seeing 8.5s here and there ... as barometers Ive learned to run like hell in this case when the line should move the other way ...

I dont see where Terps wont be fired up for an opener, what 20 y-o kid wouldnt be sky high? the look ahead theory in game one just doesnt make sense to me, maybe if it was game 5 or so ...

gregg

ps isnt this the same NIll team that lost 37-6 LY to Sfl; and didnt Terps beat Tenn like a step child in their bowl game ... just seems like everyone is loving the MAC here and not much in Terps defense--Terps did go 8-2 in last 10 ATS in 2002, Big Boy can coach, like Majerus he gets few props

You guys on N. Illinois should like this one:

Last season N. Ill lead the nation covering the spread. They covered the spread 81.81% of the time last year. I played them at +8 1/2.

Top ten teams of 2002 vs. the spread
N. Ill
Uconn
S. florida
boise st
auburn
nc st
N. texas
W.V
Kst
all of these 10 teams covered over 70% of the time.

I would definitely tread lightly on N. Illinois. MD has covered about 80 percent of the time under Friedgen and they have one of the better defenses around. N. Ill ain't gonna have an easy time scoring. And Friedgen will probably save some tricks for FSU. Looks like a potential under, but I haven't looked at it enough to recommend it.

What's up, Gregg.
