Jim Rome.. provokes Q.B. Everett on the Rams ..calls him Chrissy..Now he is Going on and on about Manny Ramirez drinking...

This guy Rome is going to walk into a brick wall one day !!!! And the guy that will pick him up will be the one come out of the hotel bar !

And he is non stop about Ramirez... Shut the **** up Rome. What is it with this guy....????????????

Since I am a Handicapper , my conclusion is that he must have had a johnson stuck in his throat at one time...

Boy o' Boy the world is round.... I would not want to be around when Jim Rome gets " Blinded By The Light"

That is Rome's schtick. If you've ever listened to his radio show it is basically 3 hours of him and his listeners railing on about something that some athlete did off the field with a few interviews full of softball questions interspersed. It's all about being loud and sanctimonious without any real insight about the situation.

The funny thing is that I guarantee if Manny were to come on his show tomorrow he would lob softball questions at him all interview long and then when Manny gets off the air he would rip him a new one.

My advice is to just not watch the show. To me Rome's schtick is not television-friendly. He is mildly amusing as a radio lackey but I'm sure his show on ESPN draws a small audience just like his crappy show on Fox Sports Net used to.

I listened to Rome when he first started in San Diego in the late night. I enjoyed him. But once he achieved success, at least to me, he became the most annoying sports personality on the radio and on tv. He spends most of the time congratulating himself and patting himself on the back. I stopped watching and listening to him long ago.

Ferdville is exactly right. When Rome first started he offered good information and insightful commentary with a deadpan, dry sense of humor.....absolutely hilarious. Now, he is a maniac.

I gotta throw my vote behind Papa Joe too. Plus the guy is a pretty good football handicapper, he won some contest at the Stardust last year.

It sucks, I used to listen to all the guys on sporting news radio. Now, all the good ones left. Bob Kemp, Arnie.......and, my local affiliate in NY has russian music during the day they cant even afford to put the sports talk on I wonder wtf is up with that?
Romes egotistical, but funny as hell and sarcastic. Too bad today everybody is a "clone" of his and tries to be all style and no substance w/ afew exceptions, kemp went to arizona now but hes the best in the biz IMO about sports

Scottie ferrel was funny as hell, used to pretend to pour shots and beers on the air I hear you elvis, I think his act just got tiresome and people stopped listening, its a tough biz to make it in

Scott Ferral is down here in Miami now. Came over a few months ago. This guy's weird, but fun. A great improvement over the previous crappy show in that time slot. Only problem is I can't listen to him in the morning when I'm taking my daughter to school.

For sportstalk I listen to Ferrall and Hank Goldberg (who often gets on my nerve, but has good guests). Can't stand those those canned California syndicated shows on FOX radio. Geez, reminds me everyday why I can't stand most Californians. What a waste of people for such a beautiful state. (nothing pesonal against the MJ'ers here, except maybe one or two ;) )

Jim "Repeat" Rome, you could fit his entire show into about 15 minutes. He fills in the other 2hrs. and 45 min . repeating his rant against whomever he ragging on. I'll bet this little puss was the last one chosen on the playground. Better yet proably never played any sports. Never have been a Rome fan never will be. Use to love listening to Bob Kemp. Papa Joe is good.

What network is Papa Joe on via radio? Personally, I listen to Rome in small doses and usually just get a chcukle out of the idiots that call him such as Jeff from Richmond. Ripping Manny doesnt bother me, he has been a knucklehead for years even coming up through the minor leagues, maybe Manny learned from Albert Belle on boozing.

I don't think he is that bad. He is preety funny about stuff, but you right he does repeat alot of stuff. Actually the best part of his show is when people start emailing him a bunch of shit. He isn't the greatest but he is only on for 2 hours in chicago. thats good enough for me.

On the course!
I remember listening to Rome just ripping the shit out of the "geeks" who were attending the "Star Wars/Star Trek" convention. He went on and on about how pathetic it is for anyone over the age of 12 to be "into" this scene, and it made you even more of a loser if you actually went to the convention, stood around with other geeks, and parish the thought if you wore any outfit from those shows! He lumped them with the Dungeons and Dragons folks, too. Although I agree about the geekiness of those folks, it made me think about something.......

That is what these people like/are into, so who cares? They aint hurting me! As he ranted on and on, he just kept obsessing over what kind of geek would do all of this? But the more he described these dorks, I noticed something even more strange:

If you didn't know he was talking about Star Wars/Star Trek geeks, you would have sworn he was ripping on sports fans!

What's the difference between either faction, sports geek or "Lucas" geek in the following Rome rants?

"If you call in sick to see the new Star Wars movie, you are a loser."
(Replace the movie with a sporting event.)

"If you gather with other Star Wars geeks to have parties, you have severe issues, and if you actually have the nerve to wear the costumes from the movie, you should seek theraputic help at once!"

CIMG0023.JPG

(Tailgating for 5 hours before a game is cool, and wearing a jersey as if the coach will put you in, is even sweeter!)

BearsGang.jpg

"Guys playing with their light sabres are gay."
(Playing catch in the stadium parking lot is cool.)

"Playing a game with 20 sided dice? Get a life!"
(Playing fantasy football.........)

You get the picture by now. Rome is so sanctamonius about sports, and it is not too far removed from his hated realm of SW/ST geeks!

If you think about it, you will agree!:D
