Update on money line Dogs

I brought this up last week-

If you are going to play the dog in a game between +1 - +10 1/2 you might be better off puting half of your money on the spread line and half on the money line. I went back 3 years and dogs that cover the spread in this role won outright over 65% of the time.

The first week of this year was no different.

These dogs covered and won outright in this role.

N Illinois

The only dog in this role that covered but did not win ouright was baylor.

I believe this is something to watch.

We have two more on deck for Monday that would qualify if you are planning on playing the dog:shrug:

chenker--good info. i remember you first posted this thought i really liked it.

do you have the comparison numbers if you did split your wager compared to if you just had the full amount on the spread? for example, what is your bankroll difference if you put 2 units on the spread compared to if you had 1 unit on the spread and 1 unit on the ML?

dont have the exact numbers in front of me but based on $100 bets, the bettor that played $100 on the money line and $100 on the spread would be up roughly $400 on these 28 games more than the player who bet $200 on the spread only on these 28 games.

Again we have to pick our spots- on average there have been 9-10 doggies so far this year that cover in this role per week but only 6-7 win outright per week- In years past closer to 15 a week in this role had covered and 8-9 per week won outright.

I am going with Stanford, ASU, and OREGON this week:shrug:
