OREGON/UTAH Under 57 - Oregon was caught in a natural letdown spot last week after defeating Michigan in their prior game, and they were promptly embarrassed 55-16 by Washington State. While the Ducks are not as bad as they looked last week, their previous offensive numbers may have been artificially inflated. They accumulated some gaudy statistics vs. a couple of very suspect defenses (Arizona, Nevada), and in the game against Michigan, they scored on a return and also scored after taking over deep in Wolverine territory following a turnover. They have yet to prove they can consistently sustain a drive vs. a decent defense, and this Utah unit is a cut above decent. On the flip side, the Utes may also have trouble scoring in here. Their strength is a running game that is averaging 183.2 yards per game on the ground, but they are going up against a stiff Oregon run defense that is only allowing 59.2 rushing yards per game on a measly 2.2 yards per carry! An inability to run would force Utah to the air, and the Utes are only averaging a modest 171.0 passing yards. I look for both defenses to control this game, so the Under looks very appealing to me at this fat number.
