for everyone saying the refs wanted the colts to win - it didnt look like the refs wanted the colts to win one possession earlier when the refs flagged rhodes for that bogus running into the kicker.

bottom line is the game was really sloppy.
extremely sloppy.
tampa dominated early, got complacent.
then couldnt stop the momentum of indy late.
almost inexplicable

lots of bad calls all around in the final quarter and overtime.

clearly greer missed that call. and if you looked at the expression on his face, you could see that he knew he missed it and was embarrased. no way around it. he fu/cked it up.

but calls were equally bad on both sides.
and tampa has gotta sack up and stop manning on 3rd down in overtime. i believe they allowed him to go 3 for 3 on 3rd down in OT.

dont blame bucs bettors for bein salty.
tampa shoulda never let it come down to a refs call.
nfl is a weird animal

The game shouldn't have gone down to this. The Bucs pulled off the biggest choke job in history and they deserved to lose.

cisco:

wont necessarily disagree. bucs DID deserve to lose, but they also deserved to lose on a LEGITIMATE CALL.

gibber:

yeah, definitely a bad call. only explanation i can give is that rice did really get up in the air well. like he timed it PERFECT. and made a great leap. so i think greer jumped the gun and assumed he used a player as a springboard. definitely wrong of greer to assume a springboard though.

The rule says that if you jump into the air and land on one of your players it is leaping. As the rule is written, it was a good call. This will be another one of those tuck rule things and the sad parts is that it will overshadow what was one of the best comebacks I've ever seen.

REPLY:

I've been watching football religiously for 30 years. Up until that notorious playoff game in New England, I have NEVER heard of the so-called "tuck rule."

Fast forward to last night. In all my years watching football, I have NEVER seen that leaping rule called on a FG attempt. NEVER! Not in 30 years! Isn't is bizarre that in the entire history of the NFL -- not once has any defender ever leapt on the back of a defender (according to the officials). It just so happend that this one field goal attempt out of TENS OF THOUSANDS of atttempts, a defender was flagged for unsportsmanlike conduct. Hmmmm, I guess that's the first time that's ever happened (leaping) in an NFL game.

HINT: IT HAPPENS ON EVERY FREAKIN' FG ATTEMPT!

This f*cking league is a disgrace and some of these officials are so incompetent (or worse, psychotic) that something MUST be done.

Among Libtards!!
officials get way too involved in these games....seems like zebras like johnny greer are looking for some "air time" or are on some power trip....there were a total of 21 penalties called in this game....10 on colts and 11 on bucs!! The last 3 or 4 penalties of the game were totally ridiculous.....a marginal roughing the passer on warren sapp.....a totally ridiculous running into the kicker on the colts....and the weird leaping call at the end. Not one of those so-called penalties should have been called because not one of them were so blatant as to warrant a call....especially at that point in the game....it would be so nice to see these dumb phucking officials let the players decide games for once.
