For what its worth, I live in chicago a good deal of the year, but bleed dodger blue. Not biased to the cubs at all. I think the bats slightly favor the marlins, but the pitching favors the cubs. Not that florida doesn't have good starters also, becuase they do. But, you are going to get 4 starts out of wood and prior. So far and in the last month they have been lights out. If they can take 3 of those 4 starts, they only need 1 win somewhere from zambrano or clement. That is do able.

Not gonna argue at all whether this series is gonna be fixed, because it unequivocally will NOT be. BUT, for what its worth, the brass at MLB is dying for a red sox cubs world series. They would even settle for a yankees cubs series. Point is, with all the cubs fans throughout the country, bringing back ratings to the world series is as simple as putting the cubs in it.

I wagered 1760/1000 (-176) on the cubs to win the series when it first hit the book. Immediately moved in the next few hours to -197 and +177. I suppose i could take a 10 dollar scalp, but I do really feel that somehow the cubs pull this series out. Hopefully cubs get off to a good start at home so i don't have to hedge, but well see. Even when the cubs went to -197, the line for marlins wouldnt budge at +177. Now down to -187 and marlins still at +177. 20 cent line down to a dime line with no movement on the dog.

In sum, I think that the cubs really do go to the show or I obviously wouldn't have wagered on it. They just looked so damn determined in the series with Atlanta. Patterson and Choi going down may have been a blessing in disguise for this team. The veteran leadership of Lofton, Karros and Grudzulanik cannot be matched by anyone on florida. Both teams are young, but I think the young arms of Chicago will be the difference with the vets playing solid behind them. I love the addition of Conine and pudge to the marlins, but I think that the starters will dominate this series for both teams, and I have that edge going to the cubs.

Good luck to all in your wagering.

Cubs and Red Sox in the World Series
Circa 1908 and 1918 respectfully. And If history repeats itself I'd say Red Sox(minus Babe Ruth as the MVP)

Speaking of WS rematches...how about the unforgettable 1932 Series between the Yankees & the Cubs? This was unfriendly territory for NYY & Babe Ruth, in particular. The third game witnessed one of the most hotly debated moments in baseball history, with Ruth at the center.
In the 1st inning, the Babe hit a 3-run HR of Cub Charlie Root...when he came up again in the 5th, the crowd & cub bench let loose with taunts & curses. Root threw strike 1 past him...then 2 balls...then strike 2 & the jeers grew louder...Babe stepped out of the box, waved his arm at the cub dugout & pointed to center field...Lou Gehrig later said, "Babe was jawing at Root & said he was gonna knock the next pitch down your goddamned throat!"
Ruth slammed the next pitch over the center field wall, farther than any HR had ever been hit at Wrigley Field! Root denied Ruth's called shot & said,"If he had, "I'd have put one in his ear & knocked him on his fat ass!" Gehrig joked, "What do you think of the nerve of that big monkey? Calling his shot & getting away with it!" By the way, Gehrig, next up, homered deep to right, but nobody remembered that one.:D

NY YANKEES vs. CHICAGO CUBS.....a rematch 71 years in the making.
