a while back some one went to the la times to report a few stories of davis abusing women workers in his office. this was verbal abuses & actual physical abuses. one case a worker gave davis news that he didn't want to hear. he shook her so badly that she missed work for awhile. to this day, after the worker complained to someone, davis has not been allowed to be in the same room as this woman. another incident happened where another woman said that davis shook her so hard that her teeth hurt.

the times answer was that it wasn't in the best interest of a "celebrity" to publically show this type of exposure.

now the times has sent about 12 reporters in the field to find anything they can on arnold.

the la times is presently being exposed as a newspaper who is slanting the news to their point of view. some of the complaints that they reported was from anonymous people. from what i have read, their behavior actually back fired to help arnold.

this is shown in exit polls done today showing arnold's approval rating among women is 44%, while davis approval rating among women is 27%

i'm not an arnold fan but what the times did was despicable. what arnold did was dispicable. what davis did was dispicable.

i don't live in calif. but imo the best candidate is mcclintock(sp?). that states needs someone to rein in the expenses & this guy is the best cabdidate, by far.

It looks like Clinton was a trailblazer. The Right tried to hang him for dodging the draft but when Dubya did it was ok. They tried to hang him for inhaleing or not but when Dubya snorted or not it was ok. Then they tried to get him for treating woman badly and now that Arnold does it it's ok. That tells me that you Rightwingers are just a few drumbeats behind the rest of us!

StevieD- Dubya didn't dodge the draft as ppl in the national Guard can attest, (especially the ones now in Iraq). Also Dubya didn't protest against american policy in a Foreign Country. Clinton's claim that he tried Grass, but didn't inhale isn't worth responding to. So what if Dubya was a boozer and partier years ago- what has that got to do w/current events? Barney Frank got a free pass for having a male prostitute working out of his place if i recall correctly, but that is ancient history. And I don't recall anyone saying it was alright for Ahnold to treat women badly.
Finally I don't think Clinton is a trailblazer either- as a matter of fact I know he isn't the first to lie, do drugs and cheat on his wife. I know I've done 2 outta 3. Hint- Thais have a saying called "Feed the Ducks" which relates to cutting off the manhood of a straying husband and feeding it to the ducks. I don't have to sleep w/one eye open. Thanx for your post

The LA Times is a terrible rag that is true. I do not defend them. They stand for everything I dispise about journalism today. And for the record I believe that speaking out against a war that you are against is more patriotic than joining a country club version of the National Guard and going AWOL for a year.

StevieD- Respect your opinions and always welcome your posts. I am not pro Bush and am not a blind follower of his. Your points are well taken. I am listening now to LA's KFI 640 AM where Tom McClintock just conceded the election to Ahnold. Davis hasn't/won't concede as of yet. A caller to John & Ken just made a good statement. It was that now the Politicians should start fearing the will of the ppl, instead of the other way around. Well thats his 15 minutes of fame as Andy Warhol said. Reality is as ferdville stated
I will bet dollars to donuts that if Arnold wins, some group will run as fast as their feet will carry them and get the 9th Ciruit to overturn the election or some such bs.

The Circus has just started. Guess Ahnold will find out the meaning of that old adage "Careful what you wish for, You just ight get it." :brows: I can imagine the stories that will come out in the next few mos. Best to ya...Chan

You do know that this isn't the way I wanted this to turn out, though it is what I expected. I truly wanted to see this great and much heralded liberal Democratic government of California carry on for a while longer. I wanted to see more laws enacted like this fascist legislation that Gray Davis signed over the past weekend -- legislation that requires employers to provide health insurance for their employees and, in many cases, their employees families. This law, combined with other fascist laws requiring pay for family leave, "living wage" laws and other regulations are chasing employers either out of California or out of business. I wanted to see more of this. I wanted more voters around the country to see what happens when you really put liberals in charge; when you hand the power to people who think that America is great because of government, not because of the incredible dynamic of individuals interacting freely with one another in a system based on economic liberty.

Having said all that ... we must note that celebrity worship thrives in California, as elsewhere. Clearly the most qualified candidate to replace Gray Davis in California was Tom McClintock. Voters who saw the need to get rid of the free-spending and regulatory hog Gray Davis somehow thought it would be a good idea to replace Davis with a movie star rather than someone with a sound political background and proven ability plus the good ideas that might cure California's ills.

So Cal
Turfgrass - you have an amazingly acute view of the California situation. Couldn't agree with you more - except I have to live here. I doubt anyone with an IQ above room temperature could argue that McClintock was not the most qualified candidate. When he first decided to run, there was a tremendous grass roots movement to get him elected. Alas, Tom and his advisors proved just too conservative for the general populace in California. His chief advisor said that it was time for a Christian to take charge, as only a Christian could do to solve the state's problems. That might play in the Bible Belt, but not here. As it became obvious that there was a real possibility that Cruz Bustamonte would win, a good percentage of McClintock supporters took one for the Gipper and boted for Arnold. However, this was more of a vote against Bustamonte than it was an endorsement of Arnold. And by the way, I find Thomas Sowell one of the brightest commentators today.
