1.) boston/nj over 5..plus 110..

i'll take the over in this game at plus money....i dont care if boston had hasek in net...with defensive corps they have they are going to give up shots ...scoring chances and make mistakes in thier zone as well as the neutral zone...that being said ..i think potvin (or whoever is in net..never a good sign on opening night)..will give up a few ...i also think with a healthy samsanov the bruins offense will be harder to maintain in a trap like defense...regardless he will help the power play ..there is no doubt about that...

last season a total of 5 in the bruins game was almost a sure play for me regardless of who they were playing..of course with the nj defensive style of play there is always a chance of a very low scoring game....first few games of the season however is never the most crisp....defensive lapses happen more often ..assignments are missed..and there is no way goalies are at the top of thier game ..

with all that being said...there are a ton of reasons to play the under here...but i just dont think boston has changed enough defensively for me not to give this line a serious look...

2.) ducks plus 190....

this line is ridiculous...i dont care who dallas has ...the ducks beat this team last year in the playoffs ..in a 4 game series ..they certainly have a shot at winning one game ......if this line wasnt so high i probably would lay off of it....but at this price i simply cannot pass up a team who made it to the stanley cup finals ...i know how good dallas is but they lost a little defensively...again not much analysis because it really is based on the value here

3.) BLACKHAWKS ...MINUS 137 (PINNACLE)....

MINNY WITHOUT SOME WEAPONS....AND DONT FORGET CLIFF RONNING IS GONE AS WELL...HE ONLY HAD 30 POINTS LAST YEAR BUT ON THIS TEAM THATS LIKE 60 SOMEWHERE ELSE...WITHOUT THESE PLAYERS THIER OFFENSE WILL BE EVEN WORSE...AND MOST LIKEY WILL NOT BE ABLE TO FEAST ON MISTAKES BY A QUICK OFFENSIVE TRANSITION...WHAT WORRIES ME IS THAT THIS TEAM HAS BOUGHT INTO THE DEFENSIVE PHILOSOPHY...WHICH COULD BE TROUBLESOME FOR CHICAGO....IM REALLY HOPING THAT THE MISSING PIECES THAT MINNY HAS WILL HURT THIS TEAM EARLY ON UNTIL THEY ARE ABLE TO ADJUST

Bruins coach Mike Sullivan hasn't named his starting goalie for the season opener, according to the Boston Globe. Felix Potvin had a rough preseason (1-3-0-0, 5.00 GAA, .853 SV%), while Andrew Raycroft was consistent (1-1-0-0, 2.30 GAA, .931 SV%). It's possible the two could split time in net for a while, though Potvin should emerge as the regular starter eventually.
