Nolan...stick to capping please and a LOT less time worrying about how the NFL should change:

instead of writing pages and pages of how the most successful and popular sport in the US should change.... consider focusing on how you can improve the quality of your handicapping.

i mean absolutely NO disprespect here. i remember when you were killing them a few years back hitting 60+% on your plays.
but lately things have not gone well in your capping the NFL outside of the HT plays.

there used to be a lot of capping going on at your webpage....now i just mostly see you bitch about one thing or another week after week.

i dunno...i may be in a very small minority here. maybe that's what people want to read. i honestly thought a few of your recommended changes for the nfl were laughable.

best of luck

No, that's a good post, sdf...I agree. What he put on his page today I think is rather embarrassing to himself and an insult to anyone who reads it. I would hope that he takes a step back, reads what he wrote, and realizes how out of whack with reality it is.

The ridiculous changes to the rules and/or refs...yes, they are not perfect, but the proposed changes are absurd and would only worsen the game.

Once again, a call for physical abuse to NFL officials. Possibly exaggerated this time, but still in-line with what he wrote last year regarding a crusade to harm officials that made incorrect calls.

Plenty of people are beating NFL sides and/or totals. Plenty of them are posting in this forum. Same 'fluke' plays or whatever happen to those people. They do not determine the outcome of every game, nor do they make or break a handicapper. Fluke plays or bad penalties have been part of football and all of sports since they began. Might seem to be more prevalent now, but I think that's due to the growth of mass media exposure.

Nolan's a gifted writer, but I think his page today is about as sour of grapes as it can get.

Actually, I agree with Nolan's rants on NFL officials. I could have written it myself.

The real solution is YOUNGER referees. They should be closer to the age of the players. Too many officials are AARP members.

SDF,

Actually, your post is right on target for the most part. (as well as hoops')

One slight correction is that his '60%' came over a span of the first 7 weeks of 2000. Since then, he has been brutal in the NFL, College Football, College Basketball, MLB and soccer, just to name a few. He has not won in any sport since the first 7 weeks in the 2000 NFL season.

That great start in the first half of the NFL season 3 years ago has propelled him to legend status here, and although the adolation is waning, it still results in people being afraid to speak out.

Anybody that has played his picks in *any* sport over the last 3 years has gotten buried. Fact. He's tried them all, and they all have tanked.

It's no big deal, but it seems strange that that moron Anthony Richkas catches tons of crap for his sorta ok plays and Nolan gets a free pass when he has been burying his followers for years.

Like you said, SDF, no offense to Nolan meant here either, but let's face the facts.

Nolan is a fine writer and i'll be first in line to buy his Stu Ungar book, but as a sports handicapper, he's atrocious.

kosar, you are right for the most part. Nolan hasn't been producing winners for awhile, but to say "as a sports handicapper, he's atrocious" is not an accurate assessment of this man. I have known Nolan since his days at AOL. The last few years haven't been kind to him, but his legend status didn't come from the first 7 weeks of the 2000 NFL season, not for me anyway.

I have learned a lot from the many independent posters here at MJ, including such characters as KOD, but much credit has to be given to Nolan for his contrarian style handicapping and money management.

Just my point of view...

May sound rediculous but if WE can read all the very good posts, theories and handicapping knoweldge that Nolan shares with us, don't you think the Vegas sportsbooks, linesmakers, etc. READ his thoughts too? after all, this great website, Madjacks, is obviously top notch and is available to all, all over the world!
I often think that they know which way we are going with our plays, because we're so in depth with our info. on any particuler game. Alot of times when we all agree on the same play, SURPRISE, it goes down

Hooks- You are giving Madjack's and Nolan way too much credit there. Nothing gets based or adjusted by what goes on here or on Nolan's page.

You guys are rough. No need for insults. I don't know how Nolan is doing these days, but I've seen himdo very well. And those halftime angles don't just come out ofthin air -- he does a lot of number-crunching. No need to be dicks.

That said, I agree with Hoops about the last part.

On the course!
I love to read Nolan's stuff, because it has substance!

You can tell Nolan puts a ton of effort into what he does. I don't think anyone can deny that. This is just his down cycle in the world of coin flips that we call "sports wagering". I don't think his results are far from the norm.

Nolan goes well beyond "Take this game huge!" He has been getting hammered, but that just begs the question:

"If a guy with this much homework on the games can't win, why should you think you can?"

Win, lose, or draw, Nolan give reasons for his plays, and that counts a whole hell of a lot in my book.

I didn't visit his page today, so I am not sure what his rant is.....I will check that out right now,

I tell you why I appreciate his write ups and plays... Doesnt really matter to me if he wins or loses overall..

I want everyone to win but the fact is I make my own decsions-- Nolan gives you solid info and reasons behind his plays--

That alone helps me make my decison.I dont always agree and I end up playing some of his games, passing on some and going against on some. The bottom line is he gives consistent, dependable write ups.

Anyone that follows a person blindly really shouldnt be betting. We take the info we get--put a value on some or all of it and we make our own decsions.

For those that think he is so bad-- then why not fade all his picks?

I have e-mailed him several times over the past years and he is always fast with a response and generous with his opinions.
Heck I dont agree at all with his suggestions to throw stuff at official --,matter of afct I e-mailed him my thoughst a couple years ago on that very subject.

He e-mailed back with a nice, considerate well thought out message. We dont always have to agree with people to garner respect for them.

1. He post his plays in public with REASONS.

2. He provides some great write up wabout money management, trends, facts.

3.He doesnt charge a penny.

4. You can depend on him.

5. He tracks his record and is honest about it.

I could go on and on--

NOLAN-- you are an asset to this site !!! You have my support and respect.

I like NOLAN

I like NOLAN

I'm not concerned abouts his picks ! I more interested in his research and information ! He provides that along with some humor.

He's right, the refs should be hung in effigy ! Albeit, errors are part of the game, they can't even get the remedy correct ( instant replay).

In any job, when incompetence occurs, companies are obligated to re-train. But in the NFL, incompetent REFS are given Carte Blanche... Same in The NBA....
Before these REFS get these sweetheart job, The NFL should at least check to see if they have a brain ! Yes indeed, these REFS should be required to provide medical evidence of an existing brain.
I'm sure The NFL can enlist the services of Baron Von Frankenstein
for this procedure.

Nolan has been writing for many years now. He's not some Johnny-come-lately. He could save himself grief by not giving out any more selections. I hope that doesn't happen.

Personally, I think Nolan is at his very best on those days when he "wakes up from the wrong side of the bed" and just goes off on the world in general.

Kosar, your are one negative f-ck, you never have any positive to say in any thread. Do ya think Nolan or anyone else needs to reminded how bad they might te doing:eek: They are after wagering w/their $$$$, especially Nolan, he does this for a living!!

Posters need to do their own capping and if they don't, they deserve to get buried:shrug:

Maybe it's time for you to look in the mirror, if you have one.

I PICK MANY GAMES MYSELF, BUT I COATTAIL FOR ABOUT A THIRD. I DO NOT CRITICIZE OTHERS PICKS. IF YOU DON'T LIKE EM - FADE EM. NO REASON TO RAKE A GUY WHO IS AS CLASSY AS NOLAN. BET WHAT YOU CAN AFORD TO LOSE. NO REASON TO LOSE SLEEP OVER A WAGER. THIS IS A TOUGH RACKET AND IT AIN'T EASY TO MAKE $$ AT. IF YOU DON'T LIKE THE LINE PLAY THE OTHER SIDE. JMO:walk:

Funny...

Funny...

I lurk and listen and damn if it isn't "kosar", the same guy that that got booed out of other sites as well as here some years ago and everywhere else since back in my college days some 4 years ago...

You, my friend, are a "legend". Your ability to "troll" and demean a great community like madjacksports.com and the people that made it a realit is truly "legendary". Your ability to take away from a good thing is really quite inspirational... I've seen you take cheap shots at others to the point it rivals the best of them.

You my friend, are also consistent, and I say that with a half hearted laugh because it's going on the fifth season that I've watched you kick a man... This time, he stood tall respectively taking the criticism not only with an open mind but with a good natured response.

Kudos to you... I've seen your numbers. I've heard your excuses. You disgust me, to put it simply. Because what you bring to the table has never brought about any positive changes to anywhere you've spoken out. You tried, you failed, you were shunned, you were blackballed, and now you simply envy, only lashing out when the fight isnot your own...

Keep up the good work... serioously. Besides, we have no heroes without villains...

And if you have a problem, let's discuss it... I've got nothing to hide or excuses to hide behind...
