FLORIDA MARLINS +155

Interesting how the book makers make Prior a -200 line and when Wood comes into Florida against a decent Redman Wood only commands -145 or so.

Tonight is when Kerry Wood gets a loss handed to him.

Period.

Why is that so interesting?

Wood would be a -200 or so fav. if this were at home.

Redman is good, but very hittable. Cubs have shown that they can hit Marlin pitching...

If you really think that Redman will throw well tonight, the under is the better play.

My first post in MJs, but an old time Cub fan, going way back.

Something about this series that not very many seem to consider, at least not that I have seen. When the Cubs won 2 of 3 from Florida in July, Patterson was out for the year, and Lofton, Ramirez and Simon had yet to be acquired. This is a much stronger offense now, who averaged 5.6 runs per game in September and about the same in the playoffs.

In addition, players streaking at the plate now:

Lofton,Gonzo, Sosa, Alou, Ramirez and Karros..no punch in July from this group, plenty now.

I agree, but the Florida team in July is not the same Florida team now either. I wouldnt have given a red cent for the Fish back in July, but now they've won 18 of their last 21 home games. They swept the Giants at home also.

There will be 65K plus fans out there tonight, certainly not of the caliber of the fans of the Friendly Confines, but these folks like to see winners. Down here people are band-wagoners, period.

Marlins have added Conine, Urbina and Cabrera had just come up from AA, among others since that series. I'd be really worried about facing the Fish at home right now.

BTW, raining most the afternoon down here. Don't know about the stadium, but forecast is for some rain tonite.

I didn't mention the "forgotten man"..Glanville :)

Florida in July was 17-7 against all winning teams, Atl, Philly AZ, Cubs, Montreal...they were red hot.

Glaring weakness for Florida, no leftie in the bullpen that Trader Jack trust.

Wood only kept them in the game for 6 2/3 innings, not a total non factor. :)

A terrific game for the Cubs to win, as the next two could go to Florida
