Time to rebound. Got pounded last week (3-9). Took one game almost immediately and will post writeup later on.

BC -3, 4*

"the bunker"
looked at this

looked at this

and there does appear to be a pretty reasonable defensive gap between the 2 clubs(almost 100 yards per game).....

add to that b.c.`s success on the road this year, their balance on offense and i think -3 is a very favorable number....

by no means a lock....but i think it`s worth a play...interested in hearing your rationale....

OK, here's the reasoning ... Syracuse sucks! :D

Actually it is part of the reason. I've been following this Cuse team all year and knew they'd get pounded by VT last week. VT exposed them for what they are -- a team that can run the ball well on its home turf, but has poor special teams, poor defense and no depth.

BC is better in virtually every category:

I know that was a lot of info and poorly formatted but the point is, if you look at the stats, BC is better in almost everything that matters.

The only thing that really scares me about this is the possible look ahead -- BC has Notre Dame on deck. Still, I think this is a focused, well coached team.

Key stat -- I did some research and found that before the loss to Wake earlier this season, BC had won straight up the previous 24 times they were favored.

BC has also played a tougher sked. Syracuse has beaten UNC, UCF, and Toledo and lost to Louisville, and got pounded by VT. BC is 4-2 with a fluky loss to Wake (they led by DD late in the game but gave it away on a TO in the final few minutes) and a loss to Miami. On the road BC is 3-0, having beaten Penn State, UConn and Temple all by DD.

As much hype as there's been about Reyes, BC has the nation's leading rusher in Derrick Knight. But no one is paying any attention to him. BC is giving up 3.6 yards a carry. Cuse is allowing five. Thats a key, because Cuse and Anderson aren't much of a downfield passing threat. BC has four guys with two or more interceptions.

Porter from BC has hardly been a star, but he's third in the Big East in efficiency behind Randall and Rutherford.

Even playing a much tougher sked than Cuse, BC has allowed 22.5 ppg compared to 29.8 for Cuse. This is a very bad defensive football team.

I guess the reason I posted so much is because this is a semi-GOY for me. Not going to call it that, because I don't want to jinx it. But I pounded it pretty heavily.

I'm gonna try to not play as many games this week. Been playing too many and its caught up with me. See a few sides a like and maybe one or two totals. Liking Clemson a lot now that they have momentum and a running game, but have to do some more looking.

Thursday night

Thursday night

Clemson +5.5, 3*
Clemson ML +190, 2*

I really believe Clemson wins this game. Classic case of two teams going in different directions. Clemson has underachieved last few years, but is finally starting to click. The running game is no longer non-existent with Yusef Kelley back in the mix. That was the problem all this time, but it may be corrected now.

NC State has been a big disappointment because of a terrible defense and injuries. Three more starters are out now, including Reid, the kick returner and DB. The DBs were already terrible, as is the run D. The #2 RB is iffy with an injury and McClendon is just getting back to health.

Clemson wants to keep winning and finally turn the corner under Bowden, who needs more big wins. They have the momentum after beating UVA last week. Meanwhile, NCSt should have lost to UConn at home. NCSt pounded Clemson on ESPN Thursday night last year, so there's even more motivation. The Tigers have a lot of extra confidence after last week. NCState's confidence and motivation are highly questionable at this point after being a preseason national title darhorse.

NCSt will put up some points, but I think Clemson will be much more balanced and far better on defense.

Col State/Air Force Under 52.5, 3*
