We all know that college football is a game of emotions. Auburn played Arkansas last week and LSU this week. Talent not withstanding, MSU should cover 21. If AU does manage a decent lead, look for them to call the dogs off possible. They will not want to show LSU anymore than they have to as that game will go along way in determining the SEC west. I am an Auburn fan, but have to side with the points here...P.S. MSU passing game is doing well, they will score some on a relativly uninspired team this week in my opinion as all intangibles point to MSU... GOOD LUCK EVERYONE...

If i may comment:
Tubby and Sherrill do not like one another! a small rivaly that started when the TUB was at Ole Miss.

Memphis racked up substantial yardage against Miss st....out yarded them but could not score in the red zone 3 times. I think auburns defense is aleast 3 times better then Memphis

Auburn will take no chances on this game. Their running backs, not one or two, but they have 3 that are pro material.

A letdown may not be in the cards. Sherrills ass is history after this season. time is up for him.

Playing at home is a great advantage for auburn..they want blood. Also have a good chance to play in the S.E.C. championship game....contending with Ark and LSU in the West division and playing Georgia in the finals.
giving up 3 td's don't appear to be much against a lackluster Miss st. this year........good luck

Joe De, I appreciate the response. I would agree with you on the surface and all of your points are well taken and I agree to a point. I do think AU will score points. Jacobs, the third string Rb is a load and will play pro ball. slaughter (back up FB) is a tremendous blocker. Sullivan (back up qb) is poised and looks good, and the young wr's and te's are talented. I do not see a problem with Au scoring points. However, as good as AU defense is (and they are now mean and hungry), I think MSU will put some points on the board. Auburn has faced two consective running teams, now MSU a passing team that is doing well (albiet against lessor competition). Also, a good chance AU comes out flat as the players could not care less about the two coaches hate for each other. Throw in the fact that if AU gets ahead the 2ND and 3RD string defense will be in and this has back door cover written all over it. Your comment about the hate between Tuberville and Sherrill is duely noted. I just don't think it will carry over to a trashing just for the sake this week as the players themselves could not care less about the past between these two (lip service taken into account). The fact that LSU is up next dictates that AU not show the wrinkles that they will work on this week. LSU is too important a game and as you said MSU blows. Look for AU to win easily enough with a clock consuming ground game, but I still believe it fall between 10-20 in the end. I have been wrong before and most certainly will be again, but I will take my chances. For what it is worth, as an Auburn fan, I sincerely hope that you are right and I wrong. I would take one loss to see AU roll...GOOD LUCK TO YOU MY FRIEND...

Joe De - Good point re the rivalry between Jackie and Tubby.

I have a problem, however, giving 21 points to an SEC opponent (Vandy excluded, of course). Although MSU has played like doodoo the last 1 & 1/2 or so, they have had good athletes the last few years and can compete with Auburn's talent.

Actually, if this were a big game for Auburn and they were fired up and giving it the works, State couldn't compete with their talent. But under the circumstances, State is a very solid play.

Watch out!!!!!!

Watch out!!!!!!

Miss State is a VERY bad football team.

They may cover the number but It is hard for me to bet on a team that has played this poorly.

I have to agree with NY Reb here. You should never give an SEC game a 21 point spread, sometimes even if it is Vandy. Any SEC team can beat any other on any given day (Florida last week at Death Valley)!! I think State +21 is very safe and the right play here.

going with AU here. i don't expect MSU to score many points and don't think that AU will let up yet. AU still has a lot to prove and this match up is between possibly the hottest SEC west team vs. the worst. tubbs hates jackie and would love to humiliate him again. i don't see him holding back if AU gets a comfortable lead. 21 points would be a lot in any other conference game but not this one. MSU's defense is trash - this game could get ugly...

Guys, be careful with this game on both sides. The last two weeks state has played reasonably well considering the turmoil in the starkpatch. Our secondary is a Big ?. We do get carlos Rogers back from injury this week to cover Jenkins. Jenkins is an incredible WR, but Fant's fav target will be covered bump style which he will beat at least once mabeye three or four times. Vegas knows their shit and i expect this game to be right at the number. They are begging for State action and will get it with points stated by everyone above. I see it 34-14, 37-16, or 31-10. Overlooking state would be a problem on the road but i don't think so at home. This team is starting to jell and it is about damn time.

WOW- everyone makes good points here.... Theoretically Auburn should kick their asses.

But..I hate laying huge points against a team that has nothing to lose. Gimmicks suddenly arise from " The Trick Bag ".

Auburn just got done with a tough Razorback team ! No reason for them to kill themselves with LSU in the on-deck cirlce down in The Tiger Pit.

Good Luck to everyone on this !
